If Okung and Bulaga are off the board...

1. Bradford
2. Okung
3. Suh
4. Bulaga
5. ?

I was thinking that Berry would be the logical pick, but just can't imagine Pioli pulling the trigger on a safety this early without looking at other possibilities.

I think it comes down to the following players:

Trent Williams, OT; Oklahoma
Gerald McCoy, DT; Oklahoma
Eric Berry, S; Tennessee

Dorsey was in Haley's dog house to start summer camp and doesn't necessarily fit the profile for a prototype five technique defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. McCoy would be very enticing to a team that had no problem using the third pick in the draft on Jackson, who is playing the seven tech/LDE for the Chiefs.

Williams showed some excellent athleticism at the combine and has the potential to anchor the offensive line at either the RT or LT spot. Albert has been mediocre and inconsistent at best. Wade Smith and Andy Alleman are no longer Chiefs. It's not a reach to think that they would draft Williams and put Albert in at guard - a position he played and excelled at in college.

Berry is an immediate upgrade to the Chiefs defensive backfield. However, he does play a position that typically doesn't have the positional value of others in terms of being a high draft pick. It comes down to the Chiefs believing that he actually is an Ed Reed clone and if that position in the 3-4 scheme is relevant to such a high pick.

When Dorsey was out....the run defense sucked. When he came back in....it got better. Coincidence? I think not.

Okung and Bulaga in the top 4? Me thinks not. Anything is possible but I highly doubt Bulaga goes at 4 even if the Lions grab Okung.

I'm not saying that Bulaga is a world beater by any stretch, however Washington has to come out of this draft with a starting left tackle. Unless they think that there is capable guys in the second round, they pull the trigger on Bulaga if Okung is off the board to Detroit, who solved a lot of defensive line questions with the acquisitions of Van den Bosch and Williams. No matter how enticing Suh may be, they won't risk Stafford to the likes of Jared Allen, Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews six times a season. They'll pick Okung and slide Backus into the LG position effectively upgrading two positions on the line.

I just don't see Shanahan looking at this draft and not picking up a left tackle at #4, especially when you look at the state of their offensive line as it currently stands. And Shanahan doesn't value the defensive tackle position, so I can't see him spending the fourth pick on McCoy.

I also am having a hard time looking at the Chiefs not taking a tackle at this point either. Berry is going to have to rate out as other-worldly for the Chiefs to take him.

I wouldn't be shocked if Williams was the Chiefs pick in this scenario.

In your scenario here; Dan Williams is the Chiefs pick. As reeruned as this may be-I believe it to be true.

But, if Bulaga is there @5, im 100% certain he'll be the pick.....as dumb as that pick would be

With the signing of Smith I don't see the Chiefs making that huge of a reach for a NT, especially when guys like Troup and Thomas will be available in the second round and beyond.

If both Okung and Bulaga are gone, I don't think it's that much of a reach to envision the Chiefs selecting Trent Williams, especially with Alleman and Smith off the roster.

No. The Chiefs are not going to settle for the 3rd best OT at number 5. No ****ing way. No way. Not happening. You're assuming Trent williams is a better LT prospect than Albert, which he isn't, and there is no way in haiti that they use the #5 overall on a freaking RT or guard.

Dan Williams on the other hand, i can see them reach for. Reaching for Dan Williams at 5 is not NEARLY has huge of a reach as Trent Williams at 5.

No ****ing way.

If it does happen that washington takes a tackle, we have to trade down, imo. Someone will want to jump seattle for mccoy. Primo opportunity to add picks.

I think I'd rather take Gerald McCoy than trade down.

If the Chiefs didn't have the choice between those two it would be one of the best days in Chiefs history.
