10 things we need to do to win 8 or 9 games
1) Sign a guy like Jeff Garcia or another vet to backup Cassel and to take over by the 3rd or 4th game when Cassel is still struggling. At least someone that can legitimately challenge for the starters role and push Matt. A guy like Garcia could stopgap next year too, if we decide to take a QBOTF.
2) Start Studebaker, the kid has made big plays whenever he gets a chance to play. Whether it be in coverage or in the pass rush, the kid makes plays and is young enough to become a true difference maker. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get double digit sacks if he is able to play starter time. That is just as a pass rusher, he is also solid against the run and has shown to be pretty good in coverage as well, I think he can be just as good as Vrabel was in his prime...if not better. 3) Keep DMC on the field and shift him around like Al Saunders used to do all the time with Tony G to get advantageous mismatches. Whether it be a linebacker, safety or corner covering him, there is gonna be a mismatch we can take advantage of. 4) Start DJ, Belcher and Shaun Smith as the middle triangle. They may not be great, but they are upgrades over what we trotted out there last year and have a lot of room to grow in this system. 5) Get a decent player to start RT from the final cuts. We have nobody that can play effectively there for a whole year and not give opposing teams a place to attack. Or give a call to sister ****er... 6) Pull out all the stops to score early in games and force teams to pass more, with our secondary and pass rush potential we can be a opportunistic defense if teams are forced to put the ball in the air frequently against us. If teams get up early and are able to pound the rock against us, it will spell trouble for us early and often. 7) Start Casey Weigman at center. The difference between him and Rudy is night and day. Rudy should be moved to guard and we should try to fill the spot with a long term answer sooner rather than later. Casey aint no spring chicken, but he should be good for this year. 8) Let Jamaal Charles and DMC get involved in gameplans early and often, this can go a long way towards #6 coming to fruition. Making teams take those weapons away will leave some pretty good players (Moeaki, Chambers, Bowe, Horne) open or at least single covered. 9) Keep Kendrick Lewis on the field, I really like this kid. He seems to have a good nose for the ball and is a great blitzer. Seems to play much faster than the times he put up in workouts, doesn't he.... 10) Start Moeaki and pray he stays healthy. The kid may have been credited with a drop on the interception, but the effort he put into trying to catch that ball is what he is all about. If we can find someone to get him the ball on time this kid will shine, trust me. He can get us over 500 yards and 5-7 touchdowns every year ihcsh and we have a real quarterback. The kid showed he can block effectively and if he can stay on the field for both the run and pass, that makes it increasingly hard for opposing teams to account for him all the time. This is a big reason why he flourished in college when he was on the field. I could probably add in another 5 (or more) things...but if those ten things happen, I think we have a chance at .500 or maybe a game above that. If Cassel is our starter all year, I dont see us winning more than 6 games. |

A guy like Jeff Garcia could spread the ball around and is mobile enough to avoid pressure and let the play develop.
Croyle is below average even if you take away the injury thing...which you cant. I agree on Clausen. He would have been a great pick, but whats done is done. I was one of the biggest guys calling for Clausen at 5 and would give up a pinky toe to draft him at 36 or to trade up from 51 to take him. |

I don't think we're ****ed in terms of long-term QB situation. Worst case, you draft a good young QB next year and bring a seasoned veteran in as a 1-2 year stopgap. Much like Washington did. Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers are living proof that good young QBs can develop well on the bench. |

Garcia? Bawahahahahahahaha. Priceless. That ass cap wouldn't make this team any better than Cassel.
Cassel is the sole reason we lose games period. Clause. Was here we would be looking at hosting a championship in arrowhead this year. Shit we lost last night because of Cassel. Why doesn't the chiefs see this? |

kind of out of place but i'll put it here. the rumor of vic carucci and his suspected interest of buffalo for croyle cause of gailey........i don't see happening. unless Denver cuts quinn which i doubt we would be stuck without a backup i don't see croyle getting dealt. i know his history is bad with injuries but we have to hold on to him and hope he holds up. hope that its only a tendonitis flair up in his arm they are letting rest.
I could see them only carring 2 qbs to start since both palko and stull would have PS eligibility. in that case they would just have 8 inactive players on game day instead of 7 and a declared 3rd qb with one of those 2 on the PS and run the wildcat to finish the game in case of the top 2 going down to finish if the shat hit the fan that way. Stull has good size and if he has any accuracy whatsoever he might beat out palko if they go that route. Otherwise they could put in a claim when NYJ cut O'Connell or more likely kellen clemons. Possibly Tom Brandstater but he likely makes the cut in Indy possible pushing Painter for the backup spot.

could be i'm not sure on the requirments. i know a guy like walters spent the season on the active roster and may have only dressed for half or less but he wouldn't be.
if stull has any accuracy whatsoever he would get my vote assuming they want to stick with a guy who knows the playbook.

I'm all for a new option at quarterback, but given Kansas City's history, they have never successfully fostered a QB. Dawson was a defector from the NFL to the AFL Texans and was a five year veteran. Mike Livingston=FAIL, Steve Fuller=FAIL, Todd Blackledge=FAIL, Bill Kenney had a few modestly successful years. The chiefs have this reoccurring nightmare of trying to force Squared back up Quarterbacks into Round Starting Quarterback holes. Steve DeBerg a career journeyman was great duct tape. Dave Kreig was a busted reclamation project. Joe Montana was successful because lets face it he was Joe, the confidence he inspired had the Chiefs playing way beyond their means.
Steve Bono=Fail, Elvis Grbac=Fail, we let a future Pro Bowler and AFC MVP in Gannon go in Lew of Grbac. Trent Green for all practical purposes a back up given the starting job on the recommendation of a former employer (Rams/ Vermeil). And Tyler, who knows we didn't give it much of a run? Croyle is a "China Doll", has tons of talent but no durability. And once again Cassel, a back up given the job on a "loaded" past resume. The Chiefs have to understand, you have to scout a "blue chip" prospect and let it develop. The Colts didn't have instant karma with Peyton , they gave him time he gave them talent. So frustrating to see the Chiefs continue to use the same busted mentality. And granted most all the examples sited, from Kreig to Green were "King Carls" quick fixes, to insure his "five year" plan to the Super Bowl. But they really need to put a "best foot forward" in addressing this problem in the future. IMHO.

How am I wrong, Brainiac? Point being the Chiefs have never drafted and developed a Quarterback, Douche.

Look at it this way. If Cassel sucks all year we will be drafting top 10 and there are some good QB's coming out.
