So Ron Paul will be a significant force at the Convention? It's too early to declare Romney the nominee?

Where have you been? Ron Paul has been significant all along.

To answer your question, I think that Romney will be the nominee. But if I were to guess, I believe that there is going to be an "emporer has no clothes" moment for him either at the convention (or after it) that is provoked by the Paul people.

All it means is that Ron Paul supporters will be able to vote for him on the first ballot at the convention. Romney will easily get the delegates needed to secure the nomination on the first ballot.

Its nothing more than a big FU to the Republican establishment and only helps Obama get elected. Can't wait...

Hopefully he will ride that momentum to a 3rd-party run and we can see Romney get Nader'd.

I disagree. I think Obama would get Nader'd. A great many of the Paulies are only in it because of Pauls stance on legalizing drugs. I would think most of those people would be either voting for Obama or Paul.

I'm pretty sure most of those people will forget to register or get lost in a Cheech & Chong marathon or be distracted by a burrito and forget to vote.

I really don't think most of the Paulies are in it for that reason.

I know a great deal of Paulites in both DFW and Austin... I would say that 90% are 22-28 years old and if it wasn't for Ron Paul, they'd be Obama supporters. I don't see ANY of them switching back.

Quite a few are simply anti-war... Obama has blown any and all cred he had on that point.

Not when so many young people have showed up to be delegates to the convention in Tampa. That's a pretty hi-level of involvement and activism right there. Yes, there was a shockingly high number of young voters that showed up at those conventions where delegates get chosen.

Your side will need that, but don't count on it.

"All it means..."

The Republican party is going to be reckoning with itself for a decade to determine what it all means. The party is in civil war across the country. You're an insider - you know it better than I do. I'm sure you've participated in sessions to try to figure out how to shut the Paul factor down. You're from Iowa, right? Having any luck?

You can call it that, but it doesn't amount to anything because Romney will be the nominee.

Getting excited about Ron Paul is like getting excited when Matt Cassel throws from more than a buck twenty in a game. Rare, but still meaningless.
