Eliminating the Kneeldown
We all know that the quarterback kneeldown to end a game is one of the most boring plays in the world. It's designed so that nothing can happen. Personally, I thank Romeo Crennel for completely eliminating it from our playbook, but I'm getting tired of seeing our opponents constantly calling this play.
So I have an idea to eliminate it. How's this? In the last two minutes of the game, the clock doesn't move on any play that doesn't gain yardage while the offensive team has the lead. Tie game? No effect. Trailing team has the ball? No effect. But a team that's leading has to be making positive progress. Otherwise, the clock is reset to its previous time after the play. |

Many teams call this the Victory formation. Again an unknown in these parts.

Slow your roll from removing tradition. It's called victory NFL style. If you are on the victorious side, it is a glorious sight to behold. If not, ![]()

I wouldn't mind seeing it gone. As it stands, I dont think there is a good alternative, and I dont think messing with the clock rules is the right answer.
We wont see it going anywhere. |

The Omaha! Omaha! Omaha! option is so popular that I may start incorporating into all of my polls.

I'd rather see the spike ball start getting ruled intentional grounding as it should be. I'm fine with the kneeldown and current clock management rules except for the spike to stop the clock.

ok, here's my take on this play. What's the difference between a foot-first sliding QB and one that kneels down? It's the same frickin' play!
