History is history, man. As far as ideological "shifts" go, it's not like they traded ideologies. Democrats have always been in favor of using certain classes to do the heavy lifting for the rest of society.

That's a seriously ridiculous statement. Especially considering the 2 groups you tie with the democratic party are southern farmers and wealthy northern businessmen. Who do you think those people support now?

From what I've heard, dead people mostly like to vote for Democrats. But that's just anecdotal. I'm not sure what the stats say about that constituency.

I would suggest you look at the voting records between northern and southern Representatives of both parties. It was split between north and south, not repub. or dem.

I would also suggest these types of statements unless you are ready to compare the republican party of 60 years ago to today.

There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. No, I am not wrong. And Allen West didn't say anything that disproved what I said. He didn't say no Democrats voted for it. In fact, he only speaks in generalities. Nor do I consider Allen West, a War criminal, is a credible source.

History is not that hard to look up, try a Google Search. Do "Northern Democratic in the 1860's."

During the 1860 Presidential Race, the Democratic Party split between North and South, and they ran two different candidate against Lincoln. Northern Democrats voted for the 13th, Southern Democrats did not. There was no Liberal or Conservative. There was only North and South.

Besides, this is all doesn't matter anyway. It is the Republican Party now that has the Southern Strategy and owns the Racist South.
