Best/Worst Presidents
I've been watching the History Channel a lot this week on their special highlighting all 47 Presidents we've had. It calls itself the "ultimate guide" to the Presidents, but it's mostly a great primer on all the Presidents.

Anyway, it's been a while since we've done this.

But who are the best 5 Presidents in American history in your opinion, and who were 5 of the worst? Do your best to explain.

Also, where would you place our most recent Presidents (because why not): Obama, Bush II, Clinton, Bush I, Reagan, Carter

Obama: incomplete
Bush II: bottom fourth of American Presidents
Clinton: top half of American Presidents, somewhere just north of average
Bush I: about average
Reagan: I'd have Reagan inside my top 20, somewhere near 15
Carter: well below average, just on the cusp of the bottom third

Yes. You have a president in Harding who was mired in scandal. You have a president impeached because he arrogantly messed up a critical post civil war reconstruction effort and became completely powerless. You have three presidents in Fillmore, Buchanan, and pierce whose incompetence encouraged the slave trade and set the stage for the civil war. Hell, wh Harrison only lived 9 days into his presidency. It's nearly impossible to compare presidents from different eras.

I think the modern presidency begins with FDR, and he's been the best. Dwight Eisenhower and George H.W. Bush were also great.
