So I saw this, it's really good, IMO. Starts off in 1970 and you see how Fleetwood Mac started there. Tons of stuff from great musicians who recorded hit records there.

There's a lot about the difference in recording music on tape, and the digital age, where it's so easy to just go in and "fix" things with a computer. But it's handled pretty well. For example, there's a lot of Trent Reznor, and Grohl talks about how he uses the technology as an instrument and not a crutch.

All in all, it's a good Rock Doc, if you like that kinda thing. Lots of history in that place.

Sound City was a weird joint. It was in a totally industrial setting, just off the 405 freeway in a semi-nasty area. The studio itself was small and personally, I always thought the rooms themselves sounds like shit!

The Neve was great but there were equally great sounding Neve consoles around town (like at NRG, Third Stone, etc.). But overall, what Dave has done is amazing because he's trying to preserve the essence of rock and roll by documenting the history of that studio. By using his voice, he's cementing that place into history because otherwise, it would be long forgotten, like so many historical rooms around town, which unfortunately appears to include the studio beneath the Capitol Records building.

How can anyone demolish a room where Frank Sinatra, among countless others, made musical history?
