Is discriminating against someone because of their sexual orientation wrong?

I've never had a publicly gay friend, family member or co-worker. I have no experience with anyone being discriminated against for being gay. I can't understand the concept of male wanting to have sex with another male.

But, I don't have to understand it. Whatever two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom is none of my business.

I believe that discriminating against someone only because of their sexual orientation is wrong and is/should be constitutionally protected.

Depends on your definition of discrimination. I've worked with a few that I knew were gay, we didn't have a heart to heart about it but everybody knew. He did good work and carried himself in a professional manner and everything was fine.

If some douche comes in all flaming and demanding to wear rainbow headbands and I like cocks tshirts, that's a no go.

If it affects his ability to do work or chases off a bunch of customers or other workers, I don't think that is discrimination, it is running a business.

If strictly not hiring/promoting/renting to/doing business with someone who is otherwise qualified, that's pretty not right.

Well that's part of it, otherwise I could say that you support forcing churches that marry heterosexuals to marry homosexuals, also. If not, they're discriminating.

I would be totally against that scenario. Church's are private institutions. The constitution is clear. Church and State are separate.

Forcing churches to marry anyone will never happen.

Well, that's what I'm saying. You're now defining when it would and when it wouldn't be discrimination, or at least outlining areas where it would be acceptable.
You can say you'd be against that scenario; that's tolerating discrimination. That scenario is one where gays are discriminated against.

Then I can't vote. You needed to spell out whether you meant legal discrimination, something further than that which includes public denounciation that is legal but perhaps distasteful, or ALL discrimination.

Discrimination has to be defined, because almost all of us (I'd say probably all of us) discriminate regularly by age, gender, race, etc on very small usually trivial things, sometimes subconsiously. There's a difference between refusing to serve someone, and crossing the street to avoid someone without really even realizing you are doing it.

I'm assuming you'd have the same problem with a Big Johnson's Casino shirt. Poker up front. Liquor in the rear. It comes down to professionalism in the workplace. What I don't get is guy's incessant need to remind us all how they can't understand it. Are you reassuring us, or yourselves? Not directed at you Buehler, or even BRC even though his comment is the one that made me bring it up. I just don't understand why so many guys need to tell me they don't understand. Who cares? It sounds incredibly insecure to me. JMO

My point was that it is foreign to me. Way outta my comfort zone. Yet, I'm comfortable that they should not be discriminated against and its really none of my business.

After 50+ years on the Planet I think my sexual orientation is set.

See, that's not what I was saying. At least you're comfortable enough to say you're uncomfortable. I just hear this statement a lot, and I don't understand it. I don't think anyone understands someone's sexual orientation that is the opposite of theirs. It just seems meaningless, and in some cases, very insecure. I'm sorry if you took that the wrong way.

I've been working a bunch of 18 hour days and am pretty frazzled, but I have no idea what you're getting at.

My point is that it isn't an issue if they're qualified to do whatever it is that the question has been called about their discrimination. If they're a worthless pile of ****, then they deserve to GTFO just like any other worthless pile of ****.

Whether the differences are gay, lazy, thieves, liars, incessant bible beaters, muslims, white, black, fat, skinny, young old, nerds, jocks, hicks, yuppies, trust fund babies, poor folk, whatever. If they're worth a shit, AWESOME. If they're worthless piles of ****, GTFO.

It's not legally wrong in Missouri. But Missouri has gone out of it's way to protect corporations over it's citizens for a long time now.

It doesn't fit into either the morally wrong or legally wrong category. Calling it immoral is loaded language.
On the latter, they're not a protected class nationally as of yet.

It's not a very good poll either. It doesn't narrow it down where this discrimination is morally or legally wrong. Since we all discriminate in who we have as friends even. It's nothing but a values poll which is purely subjective while attempting to assert it as a fact. And the left whines about Christians forcing their morals on others. The irony is astounding.

Cop out.

Same could be said for owning slaves in 1850.
