How come if Obama had a son, he'd look like Trayvon. But not like any of these crazies? How exactly does that work?

some white cop killed a young black man (not a kid)

I wonder how it would be if a black cop killed a young black man?

Ferguson is a weird place. It's surrounded on three sides by prime interstate, abuts McDonnell Douglas, has a major community college campus on it's north end, and yet manages to be too boring to be either gangsta dangerous or gentrifying attractive. If an entire municipality could be an early 90s, now largely closed, strip mall, it'd be Ferguson.

I lived in Ferguson briefly around 1990, and that was a mistake.

Setting aside the fact that the looting shows that it's town full of criminals, my enduring memory of the police is their treatment regarding city stickers.

In a very weird revenue enhancer, the city required that people buy stickers for their cars and put them on the windshield. It was dumb, but you had to do it, and they were all due on a particular random day (call it July 1st for this story, but I don't remember the day).

The police would drive through the apartment parking lots early in the morning of July 1st - we're talking 3 am early - and give tickets to everyone who didn't yet have the sticker. Aside from the economic discrimination of disparate enforcement against younger renters, it was a pretty classless thing to do.

So it's my first year there and I didn't know about the stickers, and I get a ticket. So I grumble about and then go pay the $xx for the fine and then pay the $xx for the sticker, and put it on my car.

Then a couple of nights later, I get a second ticket. The police had come by again and apparently I didn't have the sticker in the proper spot on my car, so they gave me another fine.

I generally think that police are in a tough situation dealing with the public, and I tend to sympathize with them. But in the case of Ferguson, I'm going to stand back and watch the fight with detached amusement. They're jerks there.

Dude, I was just in Florissant last night and didn't know that the riots were going on while there. It's amazing how various areas of STL can seem fine while others seem not to be as safe.

Hey, I lived on The Loop, as in ON Delmar, for nearly a decade. Believe me, I know.

Lived there without a care in the world, yet would go to school and hear about classmates getting mugged at the gas station 20 feet from my bedroom window.

Would walk in business attire trailing a full suitcase to take the metrolink to the airport at all hours [and this was before The Pageant even EXISTED], yet would hear about the 'youths wilding' on the radio later.

The entire area's ****ed up. I don't think I can think of a city in the US where there is actually a huge ass ****ing divide between the city and county. And due to said divide, the city gets ****ed over while other areas prosper(including where I live-Clayton) and others are forced into racial segregation. It's ****ed up.

Good thing everyone there has a father that didn't run off, takes advantage of the many scholarship programs for African amaricans and doesn't buy booze and cigarettes with there EBT cards. It will change soon with the awesome choices the people there obviously make, like getting full neck tattoos and resisting police and looting the stores in the neighborhood. Damn the white man.

This is the situation comparable to Travon Martin?
