Who is the best Chiefs backup QB since Rich Gannon?

Poll forthcoming.

The criteria:

1. We are talking about players who have served as the primary backup during a given game. They are first off the bench. Third stringers who never move beyond 3rd string do not count (i.e. Joe Germaine or Ted White)

2. A 3rd stringer who is pushed into the backup role when the 2nd string QB enters the game is considered the primary backup QB. Thus, Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray, who both became backup QBs on days that Alex Smith was inactivated, have been backup QBs for this team.

3. Non-QB passers such as Mark Bradley are not eligible, despite the fact that they were active players who would have been taking all the snaps should anything have happened to the two QBs above them on the depth chart.

4. We are evaluating QBs according to their playing ability when they were Chiefs. Warren Moon's career prior to being a Chief should not be considered in your evaluation, nor should you consider Todd Collins' starts with the Redskins and Bears.

Damon Huard was a good backup QB who never, ever, not in a million years, survive an entire season as a starter, let alone multiple seasons.

Nick Foles could be at least an average starting QB for virtually any team in the league for multiple years.

Only reason I'm considering voting for him is because I was at the game when we beat the 49ers Alex Smith starting his rooky year and we beat them 41-0 and Damon Huard played admirably with Trent Green out with a concussion.

Damon Huard was never great but he had a luxury of a great offensive system including HOF LT Willie Roaf.

Vermeil had the great offensive system. Those clips were under Herm's "Give LJ the ball until he dies" system.

Huard was great for the Discount Coryell offense though, because he wasn't about holding the ball like Green.

He reached his drop and let it fly.

The man knew his limitations.

Cnase Daniel was probably the best backup we've had since Gannon until this season. But Foles was a great pickup and is probably the best backup now. When Alex went down, the offense was able to continue to function at the same level. That's a luxury most teams don't have.

I wanted to vote for Tyler Palko, but then I remembered that he's worthy enough of being a STARTING quarterback.

Silly me.

0dd T0dd Collins was underrated and severely mistreated by Chiefs fans during his preseason games.

Some of my most fond memories are from watching him take garbage snaps in blowout wins.
