Build your practice squad here.

Two things.

1. This is my current roster projection -- I'm sure some of you guys disagree here or there but this is probably at least 95% correct.

QB: Smith, Mahomes, Bray
RB: Ware, Hunt, Spiller, West
FB: Sherman

WR: Hill, Conley, Wilson, Thomas, Robinson, Chesson, S. Jones
TE: Kelce, Harris, Travis

LT: Fisher, Schwartz
LG: Witzmann, Ehinger
C: Morse, Fulton
RG: Duvarney-Tardif, Fulton
RT Schwartz, Reid

DE: Jones, Nunez-Roches, Jenkins
NT: Logan, Miller, Nunez-Roches
DE: Bailey, Kpassagnon

OLB: Ford, Hali
ILB: Wilson, Mauga, Pierre-Louis
ILB: Johnson, Eligwe
OLB: Houston, Zombo

CB: Peters, Mitchell, Nelson, Gaines, White
S: Berry, Parker, Sorensen, Murray

K: Santos
P: Colquitt
LS: Winchester

2. That leaves these players cut:

QB Joel Stave

RB Devine Redding
WR Gehrig Dieter
WR Tevin Jones
WR Marcus Kemp
WR Tony Stevens
WR Robert Wheelwright

TE Orson Charles
OL Isaiah Battle
OL Joseph Cheek

OL Jordan Devey
OL Donald Hawkins
OL Josh James

OL Damien Mama
OL Mike Person
OL Andrew Tiller
DL Ricky Ali-ifua
DL David King

DL Maurice Swain
DL Cam Thomas
OLB Dadi Nicholas (PUP?)
OLB Earl Okine
OLB Marcus Rush
ILB Justin March-Lillard
ILB Terrance Smith

CB Kenneth Acker
CB DeVante Bausby
CB Jacoby Glenn

CB Trevon Hartfield
CB Ashton Lampkin
CB J.R. Nelson
CB Larry Scott

S Leon McQuay
S Steven Terrell
K Sam Ficken

You get 10 players -- and Dadi Nicholas is probably going on PUP. I've bolded the players who are eligible.

Who are the can't-miss practice squad players here?

Gotta say -- the past couple years, I struggled to fit 10 players onto the practice squad.

I don't know if the cap situation has us thin or what but now I struggle to think of 5 I have to have...

I probably keep Kemp, Dieter, King, Terrance Smith, Bausby, Lampkin, McQuay and Terrell.

That's 8, so not as bad as I thought.

You can bet your ass the Chiefs will be trolling the waiver wire for OL.

I would say Kemp and Bausby are a lock for the practice squad!

Just realized I have 54 players. I guess I cut Chesson? I would cut Robinson but I think the Chiefs like him too much.

I don't think they cut Chesson too much invested in him to give up this early.

My guess at this point...

QB (3): Alex Smith, Patrick Mahomes II, Tyler Bray

RB (3): Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West, C.J. Spiller

FB (1): Anthony Sherman

WR (6): Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley, De'Anthony Thomas, Albert Wilson, Jehu Chesson, Demarcus Robinson

TE (3): Travis Kelce, Demetrius Harris, Gavin Escobar

OL (8): Eric Fisher, Mitchell Schwartz, Mitch Morse, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Parker Ehinger, Bryan Witzmann, Zach Fulton, Cameron Erving

DL (7): Chris Jones, Bennie Logan, Allen Bailey, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Tanoh Kpassagnon (also OLB), Jarvis Jenkins, Roy Miller III

OLB (4): Justin Houston, Dee Ford, Tamba Hali, Frank Zombo

ILB (5): Derrick Johnson, Ramik Wilson, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Reggie Ragland, Ukeme Eligwe

CB (6): Marcus Peters, Terrance Mitchell, Steven Nelson, Phillip Gaines, De'Vante Bausby, D.J. White

S (4): Eric Berry, Ron Parker, Daniel Sorensen, Eric Murray

ST (3): K Cairo Santos, P Dustin Colquitt, LS James Winchester

IR: RB Spencer Ware, CB Ashton Lampkin
PUP: OLB Dadi Nicolas

PS (10): QB Joel Stave, WR Marcus Kemp, WR Gehrig Dieter, TE Ross Travis, OT Joseph Cheek, OG Damien Mama, ILB Terrance Smith, OLB Marcus Rush, OLB Earl Okine, FS Leon McQuay III

Notes:
WR Seantavius Jones and DE David King are likely not eligible since both have spent 3 seasons on practice squads, but there may be some loophole with accrued seasons/total time on PS that I'm not putting the time into looking up. I'd, personally, cut Albert Wilson and keep Jones but that probably isn't happening.
D.J. White is also likely ineligible since he had 11 games on the roster last season, exceeding the limit of 6 and 9 under both PS rules (Accrued Seasons/Eligibility).
I expect that the Chiefs may scour the waiver wire for a RB they can stash on the PS. I think Cheek, Rush, and Okine are the most borderline players on the list.

Cuts (Not to PS): WR Seantavius Jones, Toney Stevens, Tevin Jones, Robert Wheelright, OG Jordan Devey, OG Mike Person, OG Andrew Tiller, OG Josh Jams, OT Donald Hawkins, TE Orson Charles, RB Devine Redding, DE Ricky Ali'ifua, DE David King, DT Cam Thomas, LB Justin March-Lillard, CB Jacoby Glenn, CB Larry Scott, CB Kenneth Acker, CB Trevon Hartfield, SS Steven Terrell

I like it, but Acker has been awesome all preseason. I like him over Bausby. Also Bray doesn't add anything to the roster at this point because of Mahommes. I'd rather keep a spot elsewhere.

I very much considered cutting White for Acker. You could be right. At least one of Acker or Bausby will make this team. Not sure if both will. If White were PS eligible, I'd keep both and try to slide White to the PS. Even then, I'm fairly disappointed with White. He looked like a guy that would develop nicely and just hasn't to date. I'd actually consider moving him to FS, he's a really good tackler.

How can we not find replacements for slugs like Gaines and Jah Reid? Any option would be better, they produce nothing.

I would not keep two of the slowest linebackers in the NFL with Zombo and Mauga.

I would also keep Kemp over Jones at Wr.

I'm sure glad you have no input into actual decisions for the Chiefs.

Zombo is not replaceable.

Zombo is the second slowest player on the team besides Mauga. We need to groom the future not hang onto ageing, slow players.

Zombo should not be cut, solely because he has the second coolest last name on the team.
