Adding a bathroom to basement
Been looking at houses and we haven't found one that matched our needs for extra space while fitting in budget. Our current house has a downstairs bedroom+bath which we've grown to really like for when we have guests from out of town.
Best solution I've came up with would be to build one in a house we buy. I figure I can install a basic shower, toilet and a sink without too much difficulty. What should I expect to pay for plumbing, walls and electrical? Tia |

You should spend a little on the toilet throne imo

I did see a house that had a toilet on a platform. It was a thing.

I'm always amazed when watching house hunters and hearing people make house choices based on convenience of guests who might visit. The other one is for their pets
![]() I can understand wanting downstairs bathroom / bedroom though

It all depends on where the sewer outlet is. Most houses need a pit and a lift pump go get it up to the sewer. I don’t know numbers but it’s a Chunk more than an upstairs bathroom. You typically have to saw out some concrete. I’d find a plumber in the area and get a ballpark number.

Hard to get a plumber in a house you don't own yet. It's more of a guise to have my own downstairs space and I'll drop 40 dollars for an air up bed for when they show up. |

Pick your plumber now, you'll have 14 or 17 days to schedule him.for a bid during inspection period...prior to contingency removal

I hate platform toilets. Pay extra to have it done right by cutting into the concrete.
