NBA MVP -- Your vote?

The more I look at the Jordan-esque abilities Kobe Bryant has shown this season, the harder I find it not to vote for him.

But that always begs the dilemma. Can the league's MVP seriously be playing on a team that's not a reasonable contender? The term "most valuable player" literally denotes that if Player A were gone, his team would falter the hardest. I think that definition puts two guys at the unquestioned top of the list -- Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett -- but I simply don't think you give the award to a player from a noncontender.

That said, Dirk Nowitzki has been the driving force behind Avery Johnson's unbelievable Dallas Mavericks. They got within a sniff of 70 wins and they did it on Dirk's hobblingly injured body.

Dirk's my MVP.

Sorry if repost.

Nash has had a better year than Dirk and I don't Kobe has played on a good enough team to win MVP. Its a close call but I think Dirk will win it.

I don't see how you can turn your back on Dirk this year, with the Mavs like 65-12 or whatever. You HAVE to give it to Dirk, hands down. Kobe doesn't have a shot...his team is almost an 8 seed.

It should go like this.

1. Dirk Nowitski
2. Steve Nash
3. LeBron James
4. Chris Bosh
5. Kobe Bryant
6. Tim Duncan
7. Carmelo Anthony
8. Gilbert Arenas
9. Ben Gordon
10. Carlos Boozer/Deron Williams

It works like that most of the time in the top three pro sports. It's just one of those semantics arguments of what MVP really means which comes up every year MVP is discussed. I don't necessarily side with either position but when the votes come they usually tend to side with the best player on one of the top teams.

I also don't think that Kobe is the clear cut best player in the league. A good case can be made, but you could also argue that someone like Dirk's scoring stats could be just as gaudy if his team relied on him that much on offense due to having a mediocre team. You will get no argument from me that Kobe is and has been the most prolific scorer in the league over the past few years. Plays solid D as well, but that doesn't make him the de facto best player.

Kobe is playing on a team that is probably going to win around 42-43 games and finish with about the 11th best record in the league with a first round exit.

The team that improves his team the most? that KObe easily. To bad he wont win it becuase the Mav's are kicking ass. What sucks is the award doesnt do what its meant to do. Its meant for the most valuable player on his team. YOu take Nash or Dirk from their team, and you STILL have a play off team. YOu take Kobe from the Lakers, you have a 15 win team TOPS.

anyways, Dirk will win it.

The award is not meant to be given like that but it is. Its supposed to be the person that helps his team the most. Thats a no brainer. Like SNR said, funny how that works huh? Labron over Kobe? you gotta be ****ing kidding me. Labron is a chokea artest. The dude never comes through late in games. He's a pretty damn good player, but he doesnt have the killer instinct you need. Nash, Dirk, Kobe all have that. Lebron, he just tries to dunk hard every once in a while, come the 4th quarter he fizzles out.

Hey guys this may sound crazy, and I know this guy won't win the MVP, but do you think Chris Bosh deserves some consideration?

I know Bosh is nowhere near the Nowitzki's of the league, or the Kobe Bryants, the Steve Nash's and that's fine. But he is arguably got to get some votes at least?

I am a Raptor fan myself, and follow the team closely. All this kid has done is improve EVERY SINGLE YEAR. The scary part is, he is only 23 or 24 I think? He is good for a double double every single game. And good double doubles at that. we're talking 20ppg, and 10rpg.

I love Bosh, the kid is great. He's got a great attitude. He comes to work everyday, practices hard, he looks for ways to contribute on how to help his team win, and you can see the kid is mature . Tries to find ways to make his game better, you can see it every game the kid improves. Big big difference compared to his rookie year and now. I think the kid is a player on the rise, and he has star written on him.

And he is not like one of those NBA players that knows he is good, or at least tries to show it? know what I mean?

The kid is humble, and works to be a good teammate.

I know Im highly praising the guy, and I will admit he is nowhere near the top elite players in the league, but I think with the way he is going, he will be there in a couple of years. It won't surprise me.

*The MVP imo will be Nowitzki. He deserves it, he earned his way this year.

Bosh is definitely a player on the rise and I think he will be a well known name by people that don't follow the NBA closely before too long. There is a good possibility he improves past the level of say Jermaine O'Neal, who is solid but not elite.
