Life Westboro Baptist Church Will Picket Robin Williams’ Funeral - Page 7

The Huffington Post has confirmed that the Westboro Baptist Church will picket Robin Williams’ funeral later this week.

While others worldwide gather to pay their respect to Williams, the WBC has labelled Williams a “f*g pimp” for his roles as a gay club owner in The Birdcage and for his cross-dressing role in Mrs. Doubtfire. What adds fuel to the fire is that the WBC has already tried to disrupt vigils for Williams in San Francisco.

Williams died Monday of asphyxiation at the age of 63. He leaves behind a wife, Susan Schneider, and three children, Cody, 22, Zelda, 25, and Zach, 31. He also leaves behind millions of adoring, yet confused fans.

Shortly after his death, his wife did disclose that he was in the beginning stages of Parkinsons’ disease.

The WBC has gone to its Twitter page to gather support for this cause, as well as its continued “God Hates The Media” campaign. One tweet announces they will “preach in lawful proximity to Robin Williams’ funeral — to warn the living: repent or likewise perish!!” Another posted @Robinwilliams decided to use his considerable talent to push filthy life styles, flagrant debauchery, and hedonism! He knew the toll!” Another church tweet announced “Since his early days in San Francisco @Robinwilliams mocked God, every semblance of righteousness encouraged proud Sinners died unrepentant.”

The Westboro Baptist Church is using Twitter and Reddit against Facebook, Apple, and Google.

The group announced it was picketing the headquarters of social media sites Pinterest, Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram as part of the campaign. The WBC has accused Instagram of having a history of removing pictures and even accounts when they contain too many “Bible words,” and claimed Facebook “utilizes every opportunity to aggressively publish and promote f*g propaganda.”

“Westboro Baptist Church will use the Reddit platform, which is usually filled with vanity, science falsely so-called, and other sundry lies; to instead preach righteousness & spread the gospel,” the group said in a news release.

The WBC has picketed soldiers’ funerals, and pushed their anti-gay agenda for many years now. This would be one of the first times the WBC will try to make its presence known at a funeral for a person of this magnitude.

The WBC will have two opportunities to picket. There will be a small, intimate funeral for family and friends, time and place have not been announced. The second will be a public memorial, which is still in the planning stages.

I know that there has been at least one reformed former associate of WBC poster here, but PB doesn't strike me as the type. When have you ever seen them mince words or tiptoe around what they think, or spend any time worrying what others think of their views? If he were a WBCer he would be coming straight ahead with all the rhetoric and the pseudo-religion that is supposedly behind it. Have you guys ever talked to one of them? He's not anything like them.

It must also be a bit depressing for WPC members to know that they've dedicated their entire life to a cause/church yet they haven't made a single positive impact in the life of anyone and if they all vanished off of a cliff nobody would care.

I'd imagine their defectors feel pretty awful about their life choices and affiliation.

Those still knee deep in the shit probably think they're holy crusaders doing the work of god. So, they likely aren't bothered by this notion, nor does it cross their mind. I can't step inside the mind of a nut-job religious crusader very well, so PB might be the best poster to truly address the subject.

And they're all attention whores of the worst variety, so there is obviously no shame in their game.

They protested at Emporia when I was there (for some damn reason, I don't remember. It was a stretch at best) and my buddy went right through the thick of them. He said they beat on his windows and shit. He had JUST bought that car like 3 days earlier. It'd have been tough for me to not slip on my shitkicking boots if I'd been with him. We used to have a group come to campus and preach near building a few times a semester about going to hell for all these sins like being friends with homo's, sex before marriage and how the rapture is coming VERY soon.

All these people want is a negative reaction with arguing. People would go out there and just so worked up crying and yelling at them. And that's exactly what they want! If we had time between classes we'd stand out there and just laugh at them. We'd tell them they were plagiarizing stories from Stephen King about gloom and doom. Told them they would sell some books if the changed it up a bit. Add a little unseen twist.

These group attract people who will protest their message. I would just stand, laugh and applaud them without saying a word in tribute to Robin Williams at his funeral. Make it comical because they shit they spew is seriously hilarious.
