Chiefs Annouce Roster Moves

Posted 3 minutes ago

The Kansas City Chiefs announced roster moves on Tuesday, including the signing of defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson. Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe will return to the 53-man roster from reserve/suspension and the team has elevated linebacker Jerry Franklin to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. The Chiefs have placed linebacker Derrick Johnson and defensive end Mike DeVito on injured reserve. The club has waived defensive back Daniel Sorensen.

Vickerson (6-5, 328) has played in 71 games (43 starts) in seven NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos (2010-13) and Tennessee Titans (2007-09). His career numbers include 153 tackles (111 solo), 6.5 sacks (-31.5 yards), 17 tackles for loss, 21 pressures and two forced fumbles. He owns one fumble recovery and one interception. Vickerson originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft selection (216th overall) of the Miami Dolphins in the 2005 NFL Draft. In his first season with the Dolphins he was placed on injured reserve and in 2006 was inactive for all 16 games. He played collegiately at Michigan State and prepped at Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Michigan.

Additionally, the team announced several practice squad transactions. The Chiefs have waived fullback Jordan Campbell, center Ben Gottschalk, defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo and wide receiver Darryl Surgent. Kansas City has signed wide receiver Armon Binns, tackle Curtis Feigt, tight end Adam Schiltz, cornerback Robert Steeples and defensive tackle Jerel Worthy to the practice squad.

Didn't you know that when your team sucks ass on opening day that it's the practice squad's fault?

Its sad how much stock people put in a preseason to judge a rookie.

It's comical how much hype people put around a guy like Bronson who hasn't made anybodys practice squads.

But of course the overreactive 'rookie is a bust because he isn't ready by preseason' and the 'veteran showed skills against scrubs' crowd is the one that nobody will ever dare question.

Once again, your argument that Sorensen must have shown potential in practice, so that is why they kept him.

Sorry, dipshit, but players with any potential show some flash of that potential in preseason action.

Sorensen displayed shit.

Keeping him was a shit decision.

Dontari poe
Eric Fisher (better than expected Sunday)
Knile davis
Branden Albert
Tyson Jackson (is at least a serviceable starter)
Marcus Cooper could not have been worse at the end of last year

Most of these guys were rookie preseason disasters.

This is so full of shit I don't even know what to say. Rookies can and often do improve. They learn the playbook, get NFL coaching, adjust to a new speed,. Second year vets with a year under their belt are going to have a harder time improving. I never even thought highly of Sorenson. I just think it's so laughable how much stock people put in a young guys preseason.

Well guys, let's cut Ford, Fulton, duvarney-tardif, and Gaines. What's the point? Didn't show even a hint of potential in the preseason. Why even bother keeping rookies on the roster?

Coaches clearly put a lot of stock into it. It's the difference between them giving up on players like Vince Agnew so soon and extending players like Daniel Sorensen a second chance either as a continually inactive member of the 53 man roster or on the practice squad.

Everybody (even you) could see that Sorensen sucked fat Asian cocks. That's why it's a blessing that he's gone.

Ford- Cutting him would be a PR disaster, contract obligations, and also was legitimately the 3rd or 4th best OLB on our preseason roster. Don't be stupid mentioning him in the same breath of suck as Sorensen.

Fulton- No clue why they kept him. I would have designated him to the practice squad. But I'm also not a coach

Dr. Escargot- Bullshit. He absolutely did show potential in the preseason

Gaines- Another measurables guy. Something he's got in spades over someone like Sorensen, who is at least two years older, much slower, shorter, weaker, and less instinctive

Vince Agnew wasn't a rookie when he joined. Every team in the NFL thinks Bronson sucks cock too but that doesn't stop people from wanting him on our roster.

Rookies have to be treated under a different standard. I doubt Sorenson was any good. The difference is, I at least recognize there's a small chance to improve simply through experience and that in year 1, you have to place some bets on potential . Veterans don't have nearly as much of that luxury.

Whatever then. Justin Rogers. Name another undrafted rookie defensive back that we cut and put his name in the place of Vince Agnew.

My point still stands.

Sorenson cut after 1 game on the active roster yet Bronson was cut and not resigned to the practice squad at all.

Makes prefect sense to me.

I am sure they were cut because the Chiefs saw little in their scouting, little in their practice, then they sucked it up in real preseason games. Lots of bad preseason rookies get saved because of the draft evaluation. Some get saved because they flashed on the practice field. The point is for rookies, you can't let preseason be the only measure of potential. Veterans, yes. Rookies can be saved if they showed potential elsewhere.
