maybe. Brett is by far the toughest dude to ever play quarterback so I don't know if I would ever count him out as far as taking a hit

Comparing situations isn't the same as comparing player strengths.

Actually, come to think of it, pretty ****ing different.

I agree-makes you wonder how many concussions he really had over his career.

If you look at him at the end of the Vikes /Saints game- after all those cheap shots where the Saints management PAID to hit him late-I really don't think he was all there.

He took a lot of heat for that game-but he could barely stand up afterwards. I think his brain was scrambled and was running on adrenaline. Any other time he would have ran for the first and went to the Super Bowl again.

In some interviews-he talks about forgetting large chunks of his life because of football. I guess that was his choice to make.

If Alex keeps taking hits like he has-he will end up like that as well.

Go look up Russell Wilson's yardage stats and get back to me.

I'd have to go count it up... but if you take something around the top 25 passing seasons of all time, only one of them won a Super Bowl, IIRC. Just like the myth that passing for 400 yards in a game equals a win, when that's not really true at all.
Wilson rode the coattails of defense and running game. While i think he will be great he was nor the reasin they got their or won.

the league is made to pass now. If you cant, you better have the best defense and running game. Almost all the teams in the superbowl are generally top consistent passers. That is the norm now, wilsons was the exception until he evolves like big ben. Man, thank Haley for ruining that offense.

And he also made plays. That's why he was near the top of the league in YPA.

When you are near the bottom as Alex ALWAYS is, you have no chance.

NONE.

But put him on a team like Carolina, Jax, heck even the Chiefs and he doesn't win like he does now. He plays in the perfect system for him.

He's not even close to a Manning, luck or Rodgers as far as pure passing ability.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Put any one of the top QBs on a bottom feeder team like Jacksonville and they won't win like they currently do.

Wilson is better than you think at pure passing. He doesn't have the passing stats that guys like Peyton and Luck have because he just doesn't pass as much, but what he offers you with his arm and legs together makes him just as dangerous as Luck.

They had a historic defense last year. Literally the best pass defense of all time coupled with one of the top run defenses of the year. Why wouldn't he ride it's coattails?

Don't forget Wilson helped bolster that run game, as well. It wasn't just Marshawn. Not only does Russell run for a shit ton of yards pretty much every game, he often converts key 3rd downs with his legs and the threat of him keeping the ball on the read option opens up bigger lanes for Marshawn to run through.

Marshawn had something like 40 yards in the Super Bowl and their offense still put up damn near 30 points unassisted. That was due in large part to Russell Wilson.

Also, it's been mentioned here before but people seem to forget, Peyton's one and only Super Bowl win came in a post season in which he threw only 3 TDs and 7 INTs.

Peyton rode the coattails of his defense and running game to his only Lombardi of his 15+ year career.. And he's considers one of the best ever.

"Chiefs to introduce new 2015/16 starter 'MISTER KURT WARNER!!!' "

Can you imagine this place then?

Clark announces new starter next season as Kurt Warner - and they play "Mama Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J as our 2015 Chiefs theme song. Honest to God; something along those lines wouldn't surprise me with Clark Hunt as owner.

Good lord. Captain apology. Alex Smith in 108 starts has 16 game winning drives and 13 4th quarter comebacks. Russell Wilson has 9 4th quarter comebacks and 13 game winning drives in only 48 starts. He has half as many starts as Smith, and yet is only 3 drives away from beating out Alex Smith. By the way... Flacco? 13 fourth quarter comebacks and 20 game winning drives in pretty much the same # of starts. Smith has only had four 4 games in 2 years with the Chiefs where he's come back or won on the final drive. That's awful.

Quit with the excuses. If Smith is going to be a game manager, he has to convert on 3rd down and has to close games. He failed on 2 fourth quarter drives the past 3 weeks, and < 25% on third down conversions which is all kinds of god awful.

This 'Franchise QB' myth that lots of guys like to push around here.....all that does is put a team in a consistent position to win over a certain period of time. Its not a guarantee of anything. Lots of great QBs never won a title. Not because they couldnt, but because they didnt play on a great team, or a variety of other variables.

The truth is, winning a championship involves a ton of different factors.

Ive said many times that about 10-12 QBs could have won with Seattle last year.

This is incorrect. Peyton was the best player on the field and THE key reason why they won the AFCCG and the Super Bowl that year. Don't be lazy.

Someday people will start looking at the right stats rather than yardage and TD:INT ratio. I hate laziness in this debate.
