Is there really a top 10 QB?

Let's be honest. This class sucks. If Christian Hackenturd is in the conversation for the first round, we may as well win.

You could get ASS11 production out of Murray or Daniel RIGHT NOW. Today.

Isn't it time to shoot for something a little higher?

KC isn't drafting a QB in the first.

You are correct. Since the new rookie agreement, there is literally no excuse to not take a QB. It won't kill your bankroll.

I don't know yet... Haven't watched any College football.

Putting a ton of time watching potential QB prospects only for the Chiefs to draft a Lineman has just run it's course.

Don't hate on Dee Ford. He's still got potential. I like what I've seen from him this year. I love Tamba Hali and have always been a huge fan of his, but wish they would give Ford more playing time. He's the future of that position. I don't disagree with your position, but you shouldn't include Dee Ford in this list.

I really want to see them play Murray. Would love to see how he plays if he gets all the first string reps in practice. Wasn't he projected as a 1st rounder prior to the injury?

Since 1999, Cleveland has used four first round picks on the QB postion and they haven't hit on a single one of them. Just throwing away a first round pick just because you have a need is stupid.

John Elway had the second pick in the draft in 2011, and had Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow as his two QB's. Elway knew he couldn't win with them at QB but he also knew that drafting for need is stupid. So instead of drafting Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, or Christian Ponder with the #2 pick he chose Von Miller. Bad teams draft for need, good teams draft the best player available.

I'm 100% certain that CP would've draft Gabbert #2 overall and they would've missed out on AJ Green, Julio Jones, Von Miller, JJ Watt, Aldon Smith, Patrick Peterson, Robert Quin, Muhamed Wilkerson, and Marcell Darius.

I would rather draft a QB every year in the 1st then what we have been doing.

Eh,

They can probably still get Hackenberg in the late first and he's my favorite developmental QB thus far.

There's not an obviously elite QB in this class, but there will be a couple of good QBs that come out of it. It's going to be a scouting/development question rather than a simple draft-order one.

8-8 isn't a 'wasted' season if the team simply grabs their nuts and takes a chance on scouting and coaching up a new QB. And truthfully, the odds of them taking a QB at 18 are better than at 4 anyway. At 4 there really may NOT be a talent worth that pick. With Dorsey's emphasis on his board and how he weighs BPA over need, it's likely that he'd pass on a QB that early in the draft. But in the latter part of the 1st, there will be a few guys that could justifiably go there and not run askance of Dorsey's 'decision lens'.

There's no Luck in this draft so tanking will actually be counter-productive, IMO. The Chiefs need to be in a spot in the draft where Dorsey's comfortable taking a nominal risk on a QB. That's much more likely later in the round than in the top 5, IMO.

Meh, I don't agree. If you look at the majority of starting QBs in the NFL, and franchise QBs in the NFL, they pretty much all come out of the first round. Sure, there are lots of busts at QB but that should not stop a team from drafting a QB if they like one and need one.

A true franchise QB, like a Peyton Manning or John Elway come around once every 10 or 15 years and they don't get past the first pick in the draft.

Then you have good but not elite QB's like Eli, Stafford, McNabb, and Matt Ryan who come around every two or three years and they are snatched up within the first 3 picks.

Then you have guys like Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers who do slip a bit and for every 1 of them there are a dozen Brady Quinn's.

Kaepernick broke it down in a different thread, but QB's drafted outside of the top 5 have an 86% bust rate (no Pro Bowls, no Super Bowls). And while 54% of QB's drafted inside the top 5 have made a Pro Bowl, only 10% ever won a Super Bowl.
