Joe Buck?

Firstly: I don't watch enough baseball to really have an opinion one way or the other.

That being said, I know people on here can't stand Joe Buck. I've been reading the hate for a while and people complaining about him commentating the series.

I woke up to local sports radio, and those guys were ALSO bashing Joe Buck. Then every caller that called in was bashing Joe Buck and saying how the technical difficulty time was so wonderful because Joe Buck wasn't on the air.

So, my question: is this a pretty universal feeling outside of Cardinals land? Has Joe Buck jumped the shark? Will the network continue to give him major gigs if there's this much dislike of the guy's commentating?

It seems as if Joe Buck alienates every fan of each game he broadcasts. I had people on my Facebook feed say they preferred watching ESPN Desportes, catching every tenth word, as opposed to listening to Joe Buck.

And the worst part is that he's not entertaining. Love him or hate him, Howard Cossel was entertaining. Dennis Miller was entertaining.

Joe Buck is just annoying.

Dane will probably know this because he's Dane, but I guess I never realized that the international broadcast had different announcers.
I mean, why? It was just a couple of white American guys doing a broadcast like any other. It's not like they had Latinos catering to a different demo and market. What's the point?

EDIT: Probably a different rights holder and Fox was just being allowed to use their feed.

Your edit is correct: MLB Network owns the rights to the International Feed and they allowed Fox to use their broadcast while the issue in the Fox truck was being resolved.

I like Joe Buck. I also like Troy Aikman.

I can't say there's a single commentator that I dislike.

I think he can get carried away on a single topic sometimes but I don't think he favors any team. His call of Cain's run in game 6 last series was great. He's shown plenty of excitement for Royals plays.

I also like that he has a sense of humor about the whole thing. I think that's what I do like about him. A lot of people wouldn't have fun with it but Buck does.
You nailed it. This is mob mentality at it's worst. I'm not a big fan of the guy, but I don't have anything against him either.

He's been fine, IMO. I really enjoy Dan Shulman on ESPN Radio.

I think it was Funny or Die that did a whole skit about it. It's pretty funny. Joe Buck played along.

Mike Greenberg does this. He takes some side issue, makes it seem like the most important topic in the world, and beats it to death. Meanwhile completely ignoring more interesting subjects.

I usually don't notice them too much...there isn't really a commentator today that annoys me too much.

The Cubs announcers have always annoyed the hell out of me, though...and that's probably because they were so homeristic towards that ****-ass of a team. I HATED, HATED, HATED Steve Stone!!!!

Good thread. I, too, don't get the hate. I know he loved Baumgartner last year but I didn't think it was hate worthy.
