Ried says that Pederson does play calls on gameday

I was just watching Chiefs rewind. They were interviewing Reid after the game. He gave credit to Pederson for being a good signal caller. He said that he gets most of the credit for the playcalling but actually, he and Pederson split the playcalling, and that they feed off each other. He then joked that Pederson was making the good calls and he was making the bad ones. That surprised me. I thought that Reid did most if not all of the playcalling.

Just so people are aware, JJChiefsfan is likely the dumbest mother****er to ever post on Chiefsplanet:

This is just a cursory look into this idiot's mind.

More to follow, especially if he acts like his usual self, which includes misspelled profanities and general dumbassery.

Maybe because our leads have been more substantial recently, but I've noticed less boneheaded clock management as well. Maybe taking the play calling off of Reid's overstuffed plate (yes, pun intended) has left him more able to do what head coaches need to do.

I don't care who is really calling the plays at this point. The fact that they have Alex making better downfield reads and taking shots is a godsend.

I never said that he was or that I wanted him.fired. I was just responding to a comment about potential future coaches on the staff. I don't see him getting fired either, but I didn't see him ever getting fired in Philly either.

We know that Pederson was calling plays in the preseason, and he was more aggressive attacking the defense that Reid was when he took over the play calling in the regular season.

This offense has been more aggressive since this streak started.

It is Pederson's job to coordinate a game plan for this offense from week to week, and Reid will have input and approve that plan.

But when the bullets start flying, so to speak, Reid will allow Pederson to call the plays with minimal interference.

The adjustment to the offense against Buffalo, when we went from dinking and dunking to going over top was phenomenal. Who ever made that choice, and called those plays, needs to stay as the signal caller.

I don't know.

Before the change in play calling this last 4/5 weeks Reid was looking pretty shitty with out much light at the tunnel. Whatever change was made probably saved our season.

Bump since I found this from October:

With a disappointing 1-5 record, it’s safe to say Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s team is combating a number of on-field issues.

The good news is that Reid is equipped to deal with them. For instance, the offensive line has struggled for two straight seasons, and Reid spent a significant portion of his career — 11 seasons, actually — as an O-line coach.

So on Monday, Reid — who had handled offensive play-calling duties since he was hired in 2013 — was asked whether he’s considered giving up that responsibility, which is quite time-consuming, so he can shore up areas of deficiency on this team.

His answer? Nope.

“Well, I think I spend a lot of time on it (all of the things) anyways — not a lot of wasted hours,” Reid said. “Listen, I trust my coaches that they can coach their positions, and I try to keep an eye on that on both sides of the ball and special teams. That’s part of my job.

“I look at everything. That’s an honest question there.”

There is a precedent for the move. After a 6-10 season in 2005, the Eagles started the 2006 season 5-6 and Reid ultimately ceded the play calling duties to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

The Eagles rallied and won their next five games and made the playoffs with a more balanced attack, and Mornhinweg remained the offensive coordinator through the 2012 season, which was Reid’s final campaign in Philadelphia.

This may or may not be shocking to you, but if you go back through the first half of the season, most of the plays are the same ones called now. What changed is Alex is actually taking the shots downfield. I think the trust is there between Alex and the receivers now, and the running game is helping as well.

You can't know that.

Plays have reads and priority targets

I believe that Alex goes with his priority target, maybe the 2nd.

Play calling effects that.
