Making the case for Tony Romo...

Right now, the Chiefs have just over $5 million in cap space. For 2017's league year, they are set to have around $5 million. Upon rolling over this year's cap space, they will have around $10 million before ever making a roster move.

My preferred approach to the offseason would be picking up Romo and drafting a QB early. My preference (right now) would be Pat Mahomes from Texas Tech. Here is how the Chiefs could do all of this without blowing things up.

1. Cut Alex Smith, void Nick Foles' contract. First off, Foles' void is a no-brainer. It saves over $10 million. Next, if the Chiefs do decide they want Romo, you move on from Smith. Some say they can't cut him yet, and I don't know why. Sure, it would result in $7.2 million in dead money. But it also saves $9.7 million. That alone is enough to keep Eric Berry, and the cap space total jumps to over $30 million.

Hypothetically, with $30 million the Chiefs could keep Berry, bring Romo and a draft class in, and still have room to make a few moves. But lets say they get greedy...

2. Cut Jamaal Charles. This one, I do not want to see. I think we could work out a large pay cut before hand and keep a potential good running back. But, if not, this adds another $7 million. They now sit at $37 million in cap room to do what they want.

So basically what I am telling you is that if the guys at OTC know their shit, the Chiefs could replace Alex and Foles with Romo and a draft pick for a smaller price. They also would have the available money to keep Berry, and even Poe if they please. Seems like a no-brainer to me, if they can pull it off.

Just saying.
Romo has 5 (or more) seasons that are better than Alex's best.

I'm not and have never been a Alex hater, but I don't believe in this team's ability to win a SB with he and Reid together.

No. Just no. Seen way too many quick fixes at QB on this team in my life. Do we really want to help 'merica's team rebuild any more than they have?

Let Tyler Bray play. They drafted him, let him earn his clipboard money. See what you have. You know what you have in Smith and Foles. Backup material

We are already overpaying for Justin Houstons injury concerns we don't need another contract of injury concerns. Stop delaying the inevitable and draft and develop, we've been through this many times.

Now,THAT'S entertainment. I wouldn't go with Romo. Chiefs got hosed on the holding call , lot's of dropped passes, that were quite accurate BTW. Just draft a QB high so Chiefs can move on after Andy n Alex do their thing next year.

Obviously draft is the priority.

But a healthy Tony Romo instantly makes us a legitimate contender instead of this comical pretender we were. And for all people talk about health, prior to the big injury last year, he was healthy for 4 years in a row and 8 out of 9. Talk about exaggerated. You just hate him because he's a Cowboy, but guess what, a healthy Tony Romo takes a giant shit all over Alex Smith.

3800-34-9
3900-31-10
4900-28-19
4200-31-10

The guy ****ing clowns Alex Smith in every way required. We'd be lucky to have a guy as good as him. Instead we're saddled with the most pathetic imitation of a QB in the league.

If we're going to go down the same route as taking other team's castoffs...

Then trade for Phyllis Rivers. Chargers have proven time and time again how ****ing stupid their front office is. Maybe they'll let him go for a 3rd rd pick. LOL

Romo would be thrilled to go to a place where he'd be a placeholder for a rookie QB again. I'm sure he'd be right on board for that strategy.
