I was going to guess Willis.
That guy absolutely obliterated the combine. He was a potential early 3rd round pick and after the combine I bet he goes mid-late first. His performance was absolutely amazing.

I keep hearing this about various players except that they all can't go in the 1st round. For every guy that moves into the 1st round that means someone has to drop out. As far as Willis there are a ton of edge players he has to compete with so I just don't see him moving up that far.

I mean, what else could you want from the kid? Sure, there's a lot of competition among edge players but how many of them (non-Garrett Division) have a better combination of production and measurables than Willis? It's hard to get a lot of momentum this late in the process, I'll grant you. A full 30+ picks is a long way to climb. But I have a hard time seeing what should keep Willis behind any of these guys that were considered obvious 1st rounders a month ago.

The Chiefs can probably land a good passrusher in the 2nd round. Like, 10 of them currently have first round grades.
The Chiefs also have their entire OL depth chart returning this year. And they're set in the secondary. This is going to push all the talented RBs and ILBs down the draft. The Chiefs can reap major value at positions of major need. |

I agree on depth but... an upgrade over Mitchell?
I was in Arrowhead for the playoff game. Antonio Brown had more daylight against Peters than he did against Mitchell. Mitchell's stats the final six games of the year were ungodly. The Chiefs need to lock him up for a few years and play the pressing-corners scheme that Sutton loves. |

NFL personnel guys can't have just whiffed that badly on him, can they? I mean the way the guy played absolutely looked like someone that's no worse than a long-term, viable #2 corner but man, you really need to believe the league is full of idiots to get there. What was the difference? How'd he suddenly become that good, that fast? Don't the odds overwhelmingly favor the conclusion that he was just on a hot streak? He looked to have staying power, no question. If the Chiefs could get him on a 3-year extension to keep him out of RFA next year, I'd be down. But let's not overlook the possibility of him turning back into a pumpkin because a whole lot of people put eyes on that kid and didn't see an NFL player...right up to the point he became one of the 20-30 most effective CBs in football last year. Weird damn game.

I guess it would be similar to Ryan Ludwick and Ludwick showed some staying power. But hell, Ludwick was once a very highly thought of prospect who'd made it to the majors before serious injuries set him back. How many guys in any sport can you think of that were never highly regarded coming out of school, didn't do anything to distinguish themselves at the pro level for a couple of years and then finally just seemingly overnight became a league average or better starter? It's just bizarre.

When you read old draft articles about Mitchell the consensus seems to be he left a year too early. In his defense both safeties graduated and a def coach retired when he left. Just glad we get the benefit.

I would like to take this moment to pat myself on the back as Mitchell's #1 supporter.
I called that shit since the Atlanta game. After the Raiders game i was adamantly convinced when no one else was. /Shameless self promotion ******************* With that said, i don't think he turns back into a pumpkin. I think his weakness may in fact be zone coverage, which makes him limited in the eyes of other teams. Mitchell, imo, is at his best on the outside and in man coverage. Something is missing from Mitchell's game and the Chiefs are aware of it. When the Chiefs went into their base package with only two corners, Mitchell came off the field in favor of Nelson. Mitchell played strictly on the outside in Nickel formations. My guess is that Mitchell is limited in zone coverage. Or maybe he's a slow learner. I don't know.
