NFL Next-Gen Stats: Chris Jones AFCCG

Cochise posted this in the Chris Jones is inactive thread. I thought it deserved its own thread.

https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2020...super-bowl-54/

Quote:
Jones only played in 28 snaps against Tennessee, but he was crucial to the success Kansas City found when rushing the passer. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, when Jones was on the field, the defense had seven pressures and three sacks. When Jones wasn’t on the field, the defense had just one pressure.

I could have sworn he missed games early in his time with a shoulder. That may have been Allen Bailey i was thinking of.

So yeah 3 games is pretty durable for that position.

At this point im fine either way. If we tag n trade, its gonna be a massive haul, and if they do sink 20 mil per year on him, he and Clark will anchor half of a pretty beastly d line for the next 4-5 seasons.

Not sure exactly what this gibberish you posted is, but so far as i can tell, i think that you think i dislike Chris Jones.

Illiteracy can be an ugly thing. At no point do i express a dislike for Jones. Being objective about sinking another 100 mil on your d line does not equal dislike, "broski". Jones is a stud. It remains to be seen whether Veach considers him essential to our success for that price, or a luxury and does a tag n trade.

Get your handler to read this to you, and explain, so that you understand before you post.

Well what do you consider a massive haul? Bevause if we're talking Frank Clark haul, then im saying no. To trade a talent like Jones I'd want a top 15 pick, next year's 1st, and a 3rd. A late 1st and a late 2nd isnt going to do it. Its not like there is anyone on the roster that can replace Jones' production or give us even 60% of his production. We have to re sign him.

I said this place attracts reeruns in response to Eleazer saying that there is a meme on CP saying that Jones misses big games and you call me a reerun. I just figured you didnt like Jones and I hit a nerve.

I would suggest that if that is the height of your ability to deduce whether or not someone likes or dislikes a player, you should never imply that anyone is a reerun or directly accuse anyone of being a reerun.

Glass houses and all that.

Now, to your point of what is a haul considered, obviously a couple of first rounders to start, with negotiations on pot sweeteners. Obviously Veach is not going to let Aaron Donald light go without adequate compensation.

If however, there is a team preferrably not in the AFC that is willing to pay that, it must be considered simply for the sake of due dilligence.

Man, for me Chris Jones is probably not tradeable. If I was going to I'd have to get a RG3 type haul. A 1st and 2nd in this draft and then the next 2 years 1st rounders and I'd only do that with a team that sucked and no team is going to do that for a DT, so there's no way id trade him.

Suggs probably retires if we win the SB. Ogbah and Okafor are no lock to return healthy, and I forget which, but ones a free agent. Pennel is also a free agent, but I bet we could keep him. Kpass is gonna get paid, by us, who knows?

Are we really trying to lose 5-6 rotational DL in one off season?

Please don't overmodulate. I agree that good info like that deserves its own thread but leave that to the individual posters discretion.

I rewatched the game last night. Jones was definately key, without question.

Also, Wilson stood out to me.

One play early, where Jones made the initial hit on Henry, Wilson is the reason he didn't get the first down. He hit him HARD!!

I keyed on watching Wilson the rest of the game and he hustled his ass off and IMO played very well.

I’m a total Wilson Fanboy. He’s not perfect but he’s solid and IIRC not too expensive.
