I suppose I don’t know much about the contract particulars but in my head, I was thinking they were keeping Ezra Miller’s Flash, Momoa’s Aquaman and Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Or at least I’d only heard they’re ousting Affleck’s Bats and Cavill’s Supes. Idk. They can pretty much do whatever they want. Even the post credits scene implies Momoa’s Aquaman is pretty much a constant in every universe, which is hilarious because he literally doesn’t even exist in the main one we see in this movie lol what a mess One more thing.. and this is a bigger issue with time travel in general, but nothing ever matters once it’s unlocked. Anytime something bad happens in the future, we’ll wonder why Flash doesn’t just go back in time to fix it. |

I would assume that Ezra Miller is done in DCU with all the off camera issues, but I never heard what happened with Cavill. One minute they are planning to use him as Superman, the next he's out. And that man screams Superman.

I just remember late last year they had reportedly decided to move forward with Cavill. They even had him show up in the post credits scene of Black Adam so things looked promising. Then, by the time Black Adam hit streaming services like a month or two later it was announced that they were going to move on without Cavill and The Rock lol I’ve heard that The Rock is difficult to work with and I imagine his price tag makes sense to find a lesser known.. but Cavill has been really good as Superman and I’ve not heard anything about him being a **** to work with. Idk, I really don’t know wtf they’re going to do. Flash bombed, as did the latest Shazam. Affleck is reportedly out as Batman, Cavill out as Superman, The Rock out as Black Adam. Not to mention, as you say, Miller has been dealing with a lot of legal stuff that would make a divorce likely.. |

Finally watched this last night. Pretty disappointing. The multiverse aspect gave them a nice opportunity do some crazy things with Justice League members from other universes. But what did they end up with? Flash, a less mature while infinitely annoying younger Flash, Angry Emo Supergirl, and Grandpa Batman. Angry Emo Supergirl is supposed to be Kal-El's protector? But she goes 0-385 against Zod?
Meh. This film just made me loath Ezra Miller more.

The Rock also pretty told DC to **** off and stiff-armed them into Cavill's cameo. Quote:
"Grandpa Batman", while still very different from the comics, is still somewhat similar to Thomas Wayne's role in the Flashpoint comic. And Keaton was ****ing awesome. |

I trust Gunn with his past success but it's a combination now of superhero fatigue and people not going to theaters that much. I still think a great story will put asses in the seats. |

Affleck was a very underrated Batman/Bruce, and he's grown on me in that role over time. Hell, the casting for all the players in the DCU were damned near pitch perfect (minus Momoa as Aquaman, I never got him in that role even if he did ok by it, and absolutely minus Miller as Flash), but the material and direction they worked with just flat out sucked.
IIRC, Gunn has said he's skipping the origin stories for all the characters as they're all well known at this point by the target audiences, and that's a good thing. Get right into the storytelling with the new actors in this new universe and see if anything sparks. If it's good, people will show up. DC Comics is outselling Marvel right now because their stories are just flat better than what Marvel's writers are putting out. It's always been weird to me how the MCU just crushes anything DC puts out in the theaters with the source material being reversed on that market. Gunn has a huge opportunity here, let's see what he does with it. |

I liked Henry Cavill as Superman, and as a Marvel fan I don't really care about DC stuff. Superman was made boring by his creator. His literal only weakness is a piece of a planet that exploded.
However, I can understand outrage going against source material, and while I, a casual fan of superhero stuff, enjoyed Man of Steel, my buddy was absolutely sickened by that film and Cavill as Superman was ruined for him. When Kal-El killed Zod by snapping his neck to keep his eye beams from killing that family, he got up and walked out of the theater. "NOPE! **** YOU, **** THAT, **** THIS STUPID ****ING BULLSHIT DUDE. NO ****ING WAY. NO WAY. NO ****ING WAY. " He ranted all the way up the aisle on the way out. The idea that Superman does not ever kill people was apparently an unbreakable tenet for him. He could have flown straight up and out to save that family carrying Zod, he said. It was just lazy and stupid to kill him and destroys everything that Superman is. So yeah, purists really didn't like what Snyder did with Man of Steel and then later in BvS Batman's killing spree through that film really didn't sit well with Batman fans.
