Screw that. PEDs should not only be allowed, they should be encouraged. They can actually make baseball consistently entertaining.

If the NFL fines the players who they suspend for gambling, I wonder if they give the money to charities who fight gambling addiction, which in turn is caused by the NFL's implicit promotion of gambling.

(I say this while realizing that the promotion is really by the networks who make money from gambling ads, but if the NFL was serious about shutting down gambling, they'd require the networks to not discuss gambling on pre-game shows or sell gambling advertisements during games.)

PEDs dont help you hit a curveball.

What they do/did for players is recovery rate and feeling more optimum day in and day out.

competitive advantage.

But with that said, yeah, either bring the ban hammer, or you make them allowable for everyone, so everyone is playing on an even playing field.

There is a massive difference between having fans bet on games and playing/coaches/owners engaging in betting. The latter questions the sports' legitimacy.

It mattered at 1 time to the point that they did not want gambling to be a part of any of the coverage...now it's everywhere.

PEDs do help you hit 500+ ft. home runs, which is entertaining. They made it possible for McGwire and Sosa to "save" baseball.

It's not supposed to be political.

And, imo, the story of baseball can't be told without Shoeless Joe or Pete Rose. Regardless of what kind of people they were, they were among the greatest players of all time, and that's the criteria for induction, not whether they were good people or not.

Absolutely. It’s like people are forgetting that more than one thing can be true. Pete Rose would be laughed out of a room, and rightfully so, if he was up for the “good person and stand up dude” HOF. But he absolutely should be in the baseball HOF for what he did, as a player.

I couldn't agree with this more. I am so ****ing sick of all this gambling shit. It's like they've turned the whole goddamn country into a seedy casino. Crawling in bed with Vegas and then trying to maintain the high road on betting is the height of hypocrisy. I miss the days when this crap was contained to Vegas, Atlantic City and mob bookies.

I'm also sure there are plenty of people involved in the various leagues and media who feel the same, but have been silenced by the icy hand of greed.

No.

Baseball needs more doubles, triples, stolen bases. Not three true outcomes.

Maybe they can have steroids and also move the fences back 200 feet.

I just want to say…

Pete Rose people, hillbilly Cincinnati bundle of sticks weirdos…. That’s your crew.

This dude willfully signed an agreement with Giamatti, basically allowing Rose’s files to remain sealed. Pete did this on his own as an adult grown man. MLB went out of their way to avoid this in the late 80’s.

How would this have helped MLB? It didn’t. MLB and the whole world had the goods on Pete Rose. Pete knew it. He had been cheating taxes for years, and finally got popped and did time. He ****ed teenagers. And if you’re naive enough to believe he just started gambling when he became manager, then I have a bridge for sale.

Hero worship is some sad shit. Of all people to defend, why do so many run up a flag for Pete Rose? Is it because you actually respect the guy? Sure, he’s funny and can be engaging about the topic of baseball, but he was always a man in a state of arrested development. He never had the emotional equivalent beyond a teenager. That’s your hero.

He had ties to the mob. He ****ed your daughters. He also had 4000 hits. Jesus…. It’s a stretch for me to think this guy is cool or deserving of anything but total derision. Dude was Cincy shit pasta his whole life until he decided it was cool to trash Giamatti and travel to Cooperstown peddling his autograph while living in Vegas.

And here’s the rub…. Manfred is the worst one who sucks the penis commissioner next to Selig, and he’s clearly just blowing darts. Pete ain’t getting elected in the next five or ten years. He might be on a new bundle of sticks list of Manfred’s, but Rose ain’t getting in while so many other HOF’ers are still alive.

Pete signed his fate, and I guarantee you he did that knowing full well how god awful ****ed up MLB had him and we will never know that stuff.

Pete Rose is a ****ing scumbag POS, I hope he never gets into the HOF, and may he rot in Hell.
