RIP Ol' Dirty Bastard

I know there will be some people that give a shit like I do, I grew up on Wu-Tang. He passed away in the studio today, 2 days before his 36th birthday. It's not shocking, considering the damage he did to his body, but its sad to me regardless.

Dirt McGirt lived a careless life (like many musicians) and he made some very poor decisions but, in my honest opinion, Return to the 36 Chambers is one of the best rap albums of the 90s

Thing is, it wasn't ground-breaking. Soundgarden had been around since the mid-eighties and had several albums out before anyone had even heard of Nirvana. They just didn't have a pretty-boy front man for the mass music-media to fall in love with, coupled with a song that was as marketable as "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

I'm not saying Nirvana sucks. They were a good band in an era of good bands. Cobain's death allows people to lament on what would have been, but it's all speculation. Even if he hadn't killed himself, I'm sure his music would have went the route of STP and turned to sour from too much drug-inspired crap.

And if they did, was it really for the good? I don't think so.

And yes, the only good new rock band in the last 15 years has been the Goo Goo Dolls. Give me some competition....

I recently perused the 4 albums that GnR made. I found about 10 songs that were worth a shit.

Nighttrain, Jungle and Paradise City are great though.
