Animated Sigs: You Make The Call

There's been some discussion on another thread about animated sigs and whether or not to keep them or make them a thing of the past to help improve board performance. Delt suggested I make this poll and hinted that what's decided here may become board policy. Ya gotta love democracy.

Be advised, this is a public poll. If you don't have the sack (not you, ladies) to voice your opinion here, don't whine about it later if this becomes board policy.

I'm outraged that Domer had to remove the flying teats.

Bob Dole is likewise "outraged" that someone would think that a 3 megabyte dancing female sig is necessary on a football discussion forum, especially when it's typically attached to 60 bytes worth of actual discussion content.

Over and over and over again...

I voted to get rid of 'em. But actually, I don't care 'cause I've got them turned off anyway. If I could take my vote back, I'd vote to keep 'em. I do occasionally turn them on when someone makes a comment about one. We need 'em for the loosers of bets too, right?

If there's a way to disable the animations without disabling sigs entirely, I'd like to know.

That should have been stated with the poll question.

I'd like to change my vote. If they effect board performance, get rid of them. If they only affect individuals, leave them be.

Which was the rationale behind the 650 pixel width restriction. The assumption was that everyone has at least 800x600 screen resolution.

And FTR, Bob Dole has thought the original size restrictions were too liberal to begin with.

If every company that advertises on the web can manage to fit all their information in a standard 468x60 web banner, what the hell does a forum participant have to share that's so damned fascinating or important that it can't be contained within the same dimensions?

(Hint: The correct answer is "nothing.")

I ran an animated sig for a long time myself. However, I'm for putting and end to them if it will increase BB performance. IF they could be allowed without pulling down the server perfomance, I wouldn't have a problem with them.

OK, so I have an idea, why not just put the members that use them on "ignore"? That should solve the problem, right? So I try to put Sure-Oz on ignore and I get this message:

Sorry Sure-Oz is a moderator/admin and you are not allowed to ignore him or her.

What the fuck?
