According to NFLPA.org...Priest has taken a pay cut.

So much for Priest being selfish.

2001 448,000.00
2002 750,000.00
2003 550,000.00
2004 660,000.00
2005 2,415,000.00
2006 670,000.00
2007 870,000.00
2008 1,070,000.00
2009 1,270,000.00
FTR Priest's original salaries for 2006-2009 were:

With his inability to remain healthy and LJ's emergence, that would clearly be the right thing for him to do.

Incentive clauses for carries, yards, etc. would offset the pay cut if something happens to LJ and Priest ends up carrying the load.

it definitely seems as if he might have seen the writing on the wall. In very big letters...

This still leaves room for him to retire in June.

Why would he restructure if he planned on retiring?

I like the paring of these two, if not done in that you get two series and you get one. I'd be hard pressed not to use Priest at the goal line. Of course if we lose TRich I may have to change that stance.

that was my first thought, but base salary isn't guaranteed so there is no reason to mess with it unless you were really expected to play...

To help the team out, a few other players have done it as well.

I have no idea. he may have.

What would be the benefit of it? I don't know why a player would want to go through spring training before retiring. How much do they get paid for off-season work?

You mean to lower the cap hit?

But his base doesn't effect the cap if he retires anyway, so it wouldn't matter if it was high or low. It's the signing bonus that hits the cap.
