Gangs in the Military....

haha yknow i always crack up when i hear the expression "gangbanger" used on American TV, here that means something else entirely

One thing I can say is that I am trained in those tactics from both my military days and now as a LEO however it is insane to expect police to fight with handguns and a small supply of shotguns and urban rifles

ya thats a great pie in the sky idea but who is caught in the cross fire? I dunno about you but I don't want L.A. or K.C. or Seattle looking like Baghdad on a daily basis

Unbelievable. It seems like it would be pretty easy to screen those guys out. I mean, everybody goes through a full background check and physical. If you have gang tatts, DQ them. If they come back in the b/g check as gang affiliated, DQ them. This isn't rocket science.

Considering the low sign up numbers recruiters will just gloss over stuff real fast and take anyone to meet their numbers.....

WOW..if they can't stop gang bangers from doing this shit,how do we know that there aren't any Al-qaeda ''trainees'' in the military also..thats scary shit right there..

It's not the recruiter's job to run b/g checks and physicals. The onus is removed from the recruiter and put on doctors and investigators.

Actually not to go political but one of the 9/11 masterminds in Al-Qaeda spent time in the U.S. Army and went to the school of Americas....saw that on Discovery channel about 9/11...anywho foriegn terrorists are the least of our problems if this gets out of hand...it is one thing to have a dumb kid with and AK just spraying a away and completely another to have one who is proficient in the use of that weapon and trianed in combat tactics

I'm just simply saying, it does depend on what branch you are joining. But the Marines and the Army don't give a ****, they'll take anyone. It's just the nature of how things are. Poor people from the inner city are more likely to join the military.

There are alot of blacks and hispanics in the military....if they really sat down and weeded out anyone who's a gangmember we'd have a serious problem with a lack of soldiers...sad but true.

It's how they've always recruited soldiers, people from the lowest common denominator for the most part. In WW2 it was the Irish and Italians now it's blacks and hispanics from the gang riddled areas. Before that it was slaves and peasants.......that's just how it is, this isn't some big shock to me.

I'd say you're throwing out a few broad generalizations and you're right about some of it and dead wrong about others.

There's a lot of hispanics in the military because it fast-tracks citizenship, for one reason.
