Health insurance advice please

Ok, this will possibly be the first health insurance plan I've ever bought. In the military it was gratis and pretty comprehensive, so I was taken by the hand and led through my first health insurance policy.

I am now a full time student and Mizzou offers the following plan for about $1900 a year. I don't know anything about costs of health insurance or the relative quality of this plan. I think the $100 deductible seems fair, however I am a little concerned about the fact they only seem to pay 80% of anything until I have paid $3000 out of pocket.

Here is a basic summary of the plan, any and all help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I made it through last year with no insurance, but I don't really think having zero health insurance is a wise gamble.

We just got new insurance at work. I currently have a $400 deductible, and they cover 90%. The company pays half the premium. My half is $114 per month.

I'd say 80% is pretty standard. Our last policy paid that, and had a $1000 deductible. Yet, it was about $20 more for my half per month than the new policy.

I am an insurance agent in MO, and I think that plan looks pretty good. I would have a hard time competing with those rates. I probably could beat it if you are a non-smoker, with average weight and height, and in good health. But if any of those issues are reason for a rate up, then I would say take it. That is the nice thing about group coverage. They don't factor any of that in on an individual basis, but rather on the group as a whole.

Sounds pretty good to me. Get this: they just renewed our insurance at work. The new rate for employee plus family is $375 BI-WEEKLY with $2000 x2 deductible! Lousy.

Your insurance has something against tall and short people?

Well, actually, it has more to do with the weight. 200lbs might be fine if you are 6ft tall, not so much if you are 4'11".

Just another reason I am glad I moved. Now a doctors visit is 2.50. Since the nurse is my wifes cousin and I didn't need any real work (just a check up) my last hospital visit was free. Oh, and since my wife is Mexican, all of her medical bills are covered.
