I think is was also top quality.
I talked with Nick brefily at Festivus. I told him that you guys need to move to more "story" telling articles and "feel" articles. Its a concept thats hard to explain and even harder to do when you write but it will seperate you from the pack.

You don't need to write a re-hashing of the game. Let the Star give the facts as facts. You should interest your readers in a "story" about some aspect of the game or the people in the game. Just like you did in this article.

Go read my article in the High School thread. I've already had people tell me that when they read it they knew what happened at the game, not just the stats. The way the game flowed etc. I've not attempted anything like that in 20 years so I'm sure that Go chiefs can do it better,
