There definitely isn't much to Springfield. A bunch of colleges (MSU, Drury, Evangel, CBC, BBC, etc), but not much to do for it being as big as it is. Of course, I am going with a friend to a pool hall close to where we grew up. She doesn't have her kids for the night, so we're gonna go get a pitcher, shoot some pool, and reminisce (sp?).

springfield is kinda funny. the international headquarters for the assemblies of god (read: bible thumping pentecostals) is here, people primarily vote republican, but the following (illogical) facts are also true: there are about four porn stores I can think of off the top of my head... on every street corner (slight exaggeration) there's either a brown derby or a church. or chinese chicken. or a college.

it's an interesting place to live. it's not small, but there isn't the correct proportion of stuff to do for a city its size. the metro area is approaching 200k, but it's boring as ****.

The colleges explain all the porn shops.....I bet the really conservative republican church goers that live there bitch alot about college kids and porn.

KC has Boulevard, Chiefs, Royals, Plaza, P&L District, etc.
St Louis has Anheiser, Cardinals, Rams, Blues, Arch, etc.
Springfield has it's own style of cashew chicken. We so rock.

(on the college/porn shop) you'd think, but you'd be wrong. it's hilarious how repressed the christians are around here. they buy as much/more porn that most 'sinners.' one of my wife's cousins worked at one of the porn shops for a few months, and claimed (not sure if she's not full of shit, that particular cousin annoys the **** out of me) that she'd get an older christian acquaintance come in/buy ****ed up porn at LEAST once a week.

as rausch once so elequently put it, everyone looks at porn. christians, doctors, lawyers, everyone.

but yeah, there's a lot of 'nimby' about the porn. wouldn't shock me if the majority of it was coming from closet cases.
