YES! I'm getting my Sprint Treo 800 with GPS in the mail tomorrow. I can't wait till this becomes available....

Nevermind, found it. I could do it, but can't see paying $200 + the increased plan for a phone. Maybe when my contracts up and I have a real job in the real world (I hope) I'll get something like that.

Zep,

May I ask why you are getting an 800w - instead of a Palm Pre or Treo Pro (if you have to stick with windows)

The 800w had a short shelf life and was known to be quite buggy.

May I suggest the Palm Pre ;-)

Interesting. That industry is pretty gatdamn competitive.

Garmin isn't going anywhere anythime soon. They have a damn solid grip on avionics from my understanding.

Since this probably isn't deserving of it's own thread, what do you guys think of Garmin's phone? Does it have any chance at all of being competitive?

Until I saw this video I would have said if someone was totally GPS centric go with the garmin phone but now.....

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens. For the life of me though, I don't see how Apple/AT&T could justify rejecting it.

When the Google Voice app was rejected, they covered themselves by removing all the other Google Voice related apps. With this though, they surely aren't going to pull the TomTom app, the Navigon app, etc. Plus, AT&Ts own GPS app operates pretty much the exact same way as this Google GPS app.

If they somehow reject this app, it's going to be a huge red flag to me and will certainly affect my future decisions.

It's three years too late. It's not as good as the iPhone which it had to compete with. And it's not as good software-wise as Android phones. So, in other words, it's DOA in a lot of ways. The only plus was the GPS chip. But and I may be wrong on this point you have to pay monthly for the GPS part as well as the cell plan.

Google Voice already did that for me. Especially with the bogus reasons they gave for it. Oh, and according to them, it hasn't been rejected just "under review".

ok so I took the plunge and got rid of the palm pre and I am not using Android - this should be coming to my phone soon! (Samsung Moment)

Just because I got it for $69 on EBay- I took a chance. I've always liked the Treo line. So far, not a bad phone at all. Just a stopgap, really, until I make the eventual transition to an iPhone.

it won't come to iphones, thats why I chose the Droid... Iphone is a great phone but they have such a hard on of doing only what they want to do instead of letting the developers create the apps is the reason I don't want one.

Just like they don't allow google voice.....
