I know most of you would love a safety but we need pass rush.

Passrushers are valued more than safeties.

IF Mays is a Polamanu type then maybe but can you guarantee that?

If we had a legit fast passrusher like a Demarcus Ware then we win a couple more games.

Dude.....GD......Albert just lost all of that weight....he's now having to get by on technique. He is not a RT. It would be worthless to move him to LG, just so we can draft another LT.

We need to use FA and the middle rounds to address the O-line.

We need playmakers in the top rounds, and probably are weak enough at nearly every position to take the best player available.

I would take Berry or Mays if they're available in the 1st. If not, see if a team wants to move up to grab a QB or a position they think will push them over the top. Teams like Washington are ripe for the raping at this point.

I have said this before but I would love to see us get Gerhart in the 2nd round. Combine him with Charles and we will be set at RB for years to come.

I'm giving him time due to the weight loss thing. However, if LG is where he winds up, then so be it. It's not a huge deal to me. Whatever it takes to fix this line is becomming a big deal though.

I think we need another 5 technique.

The day that Sissy F@ck Tyson Jackson starts to be worth a crap, I'll be glad to say he was anything other than a wasted pick. He just might be as bad a pick as Junior Siavii.

i think all rookie Dlinemen have a huge hurdle in the NFL.

Can you think of any rookies that contribute a lot their first season.

The reason TJ was picked was not because of his numbers but his physical attributes.

As long as he gets better and produces for many years, that's all you can ask for.

He isn't contributing anything.
Everyone keeps saying that rookie d-linman in a 3-4 don't contribute, but if you look at the rookie numbers that Seymour, Ty Warren, Igor, and a few others had, that were in a 3-4, there is a glaring difference. Even taking out Seymour, TJ doesn't stack up very well compared to any of them.
Player, Tackles, Solo Tackles, Passes Defensed, Sacks, Forced Fumbles
Seymour, 44, 25, 1, 3, 0
Warren, 33, 19, 2, 1, 0
Olshansky, 39, 24, 2, 1, 0
Marcus Spears, 31, 19, 1, 1.5, 0
Jackson, 14, 11, 2, 0, 0

I've watched him in particular quite a bit this season and he isn't always tying up blockers and isn't double-teamed as much as some might think. When he's not, he stands around looking lost and plays go right past him. I recognize that rookies struggle and I realize he's playing a different position, but Dorsey's got 45 tackles, 33 solo with 2 passes defensed this season.

Jackson = FAIL no matter how you slice it.

Just because they don't get sacks, doesn't mean that they don't make tackles. Aaron Smith had 60 tackles, 44 solo, last year for Pittsburgh. Oh and he had 4 passes defensed & 5.5 sacks.

So if Jackson puts up numbers next year that match Dorsey's this year and shows improvement would you still slice that up as a fail?

Judging any player in their first year in the league = FAIL.

I don't get it. You say we shouldn't get a safety unless he's a one-of-a-kind safety like Polamalu. But then you say we should instead get a one-of-a-kind 3-4 OLB like Demarcus Ware?

It's just as hard to find a Ware as it is to find a Polamalu. In most cases, you can get a very good pass rusher at OLB if you can fully shore up the D-line. Right now, our lack of a nose tackle is maybe our biggest achilles heel on defense.

I argued this point yesterday with Laz, but here I go again.

I expect Albert to start showing some real progress by the end of this season, however, if he doesn't, what's the rush in replacing him in the next draft?

He has to learn technique, and develop.

If he needs another season, why not give it to him?

We aren't going to be contending for a playoff spot in 2010, and when he does figure it out, it should easily be well worth the weight.

In the meantime, draft a RT that ha sthe potential to move to LT if Alberts doesn't work out, which is why I'm really high on Jason Fox.

He and Albert could well be bookends for years.
But if Albert continues to struggle through the year next season, then Fox has the potential to move over and be a very good LT.
