Who is the best OLB in the draft?
That would fit the Chiefs 3-4. I don't beieve Hali is an effective everydown player and Vrabel should not be resigned. If the 3-4 is ever going to be successfull in Kansas City it will need a good NT and OLB. Who in this draft do you think is the best OLB prospect? Kindle, Hughes,Miller? Discuss.

I can not believe that anyone would want to keep Mike Vrabel, he's done.

Also MLB is a position that shouldn't need high draft picks to fill it.

I am going to throw out a homer name for a late round MLB that I would love to see the Chiefs get.

Pat Angerer.

I'm sure his numbers don't add up (physical, etc.) but all the guy did at Iowa was lead one of the better defenses in college football, rack up tackles, and just flat-out make plays.

Plus, he's got one of the coolest last names for a football player ever.

Seriously though, he reminds me a little bit of Zack Thomas. Not the exercise-bike riding one, but the one that made all those plays for the Dolphins.

According to Pro Football Focus, Tamba graded out 2nd among all 3-4 OLB's in pass rushing, but was rated 25th of 28 in coverage, and 28th out of 28 against the run.

That's a one-dimensional LB, folks.

Guys like that are fine man, late round LB's have a good shot of making it.

Just in the past year during draft threads Hamas and myself screamed for the Chiefs to draft guys like Brandon Siler, Wesley Woodyard and Dannell Ellerbee in the 7th ****ing round and all of those guys have turned into productive players.

Hali is good enough to get another year while we address much more glaring needs. It also gives us a chance to see if he continues to grow in his new position.

Frankly, we need to keep all the one dimensional players we have, because our main focus this off season needs to be replacing the none dimensional players that are on the field for the Chiefs.

I picked this bit up on Angerer from cbssports.com...

Read & React: Has a real nose for the ball on run plays. Reads the quarterback's eyes in coverage, and is quick to get to the ball while it is in the air. Not usually fooled by misdirection and has the speed to recover after a false step.

Run defense: Goes sideline-to-sideline and down the field to chase the ball from the middle. Despite being undersized playing the MIKE spot, he will take on linemen blocks and disengage to grab the ball carrier as he goes by. Quick enough to avoid some blocks but he gets planted into the ground too often. Gets a bit nosy inside at times, finding it tough to get through trash if the play bounces. Needs linemen to keep him free to be effective.

Pass defense: Able to drop quickly to the first down marker and find a receiver, even after play-action. Good ball awareness in zone coverage; always on the nearest receiver. Very adept at making the interception whether the catch is easy or difficult. Lines up against slot receivers, but it's a mismatch if they have any speed or elusiveness.

Tackling: Hustle player who works hard through blocks to get in on plays. Will bring his hips and feet to stack up running backs in the hole if kept clean. Typically not an explosive tackler, but is reliable as a catch-and-drag man in the open field. Teams will expect him to be a leader on special teams.

Pass Rush/Blitz: Not asked to blitz much, but has the closing speed to do so and is a secure tackler. Will struggle to beat blocks if linemen pick him up. Can also beat cut blocks in space; should be able to defeat them in the backfield.

Intangibles: Ultra-competitive and hard-working. Got through multiple injuries in his sophomore year to become one of the team's top defenders in 2008. Will be the vocal leader in the middle as a senior.

No, Hali is what he is 8.5 sacks is pretty much his peak. He's not going to overpower a tackle and he's not fast just has a good motor.

In fairness to Hali, Ware and Matthews are much more naturally athletic than he is so that probably explains the coverage ratings.
