It's a consensus: Collins an All-America

It's a consensus: Collins an All-America
By Blair Kerkhoff - Posted on 03 April 2010

Kansas guard Sherron Collins made enough All-America teams to be named a consensus All-America, the NCAA announced on Saturday.

The NCAA uses the All-America teams of the Associated Press, Sporting News, United States Basketball Writers Association of America and National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Collins’ teammate, Cole Aldrich, is on the second team, along with Oklahoma State’s James Anderson.

Collins becomes the Jayhawks’ first consensus All-America since Wayne Simien in 2005 and he extends Kansas’ lead in the national leadership of such honored players. Collins becomes the 20th KU player to be named a consensus All-America, which started with the first team in 1905.

Kansas players have been named a total of 27 times. Kentucky has had 18 players named and North Carolina has had 16 players named a total of 25 times.

Aldrich also was named the Jayhawks’ first academic All-America since Ryan Robertson in 1999.

Scottie Reynolds getting in on name recognition. He is one of the more over rated players IMO.
