Would it be a mistake to fire Todd Haley?

I started the year in full support of Haley. This team was developing into one of the better teams in football and were young across the board...despite being handcuffed to Matt Cassel. The growth in almost all of our young talent was apparent and easily recognizable.

His fiery attitude is infectious and the team plays with that emotion and passion. Haleys motivational skills are up there with about anyones.

For that, I was willing to overlook his mismanagement of situational football and a few other deficiencies that come with a first time coach and assumed that he would improve in those areas, with experience.

This is one hell of a hard season to judge because of the lack of an offseason. I am willing to give him a partial pass on the early part of the schedule because I still believe it was the right plan if we are looking at the long term big picture. It just sucks that we coincidentally ran into the injury bug at crucial positions early on.

All that said, his offense is embarrassing to watch while Romeos defense is seemingly entering GOD mode without, arguably, its best player. Everyone on earth (sans Haley, seemingly) can see that Palko has no place in the NFL and Haley is seemingly OK with betting half the year on him. I dont understand what Haley sees from a quarterback that has the weakest arm Ive ever seen in the NFL.

I still think that Haley deserves a shot at it with a real quarterback. This team is giving good effort and I think most agree it would be a contender with a real quarterback. Who could have this team in position to contend with these quarterbacks (Im not even gonna touch the Stanzi situation)?

I guess the way we deal with the remaining 4 games plays a lot into this, but at this point I think it would be a mistake to fire Haley either during or after this year, but I can see why someone would disagree with that opinion and thats why I want to see how a poll on this topic shakes out.

Do YOU think it would be a mistake to fire Todd Haley and replace him prior to next year?

When teams hit historic lows, coaching is a part of the equation, even if the GM is a ****ing clown (which he is).

And the emotional meltdown on the part of the players today is simply the team following the HC's lead.

This. But his backers don't want to see it. So much easier to blame people who won elsewhere than a newbie head coach with an arrogant attitude some think will lead to winning...someday.

Are you seriously trying to claim that Haley deserves more blame than Pioli? WTF?

There's only so much you can do when your team falls behind and they know their offense will never get them back into the game.

I'm not going to fault the head coach if the players the GM gave him had no chance of beating a team like the Jets in the first place. Without Charles, Moeaki, Berry, and when Stanzi/Palko are your options at QB, every head coach is going to get creamed.

Yes, because he has no record of winning elsewhere. He's been unstable and difficult to work with. How hard must it be for the offense to constantly be working with a new OC every time Failey get's his period? I'd like to see this squad with an experienced and sane head coach. Could not be any worse and might actually even be better.

The only real positive you lay claim to for Haley is motivation.

Beyond that, his game day management of both game situations and players is questionable.

I still feel he has potential, but at this point, I simply don't believe you can move forward with him.

But, I still feel the bigger problem is Pioli, and the biggest problem is Hunt.

Then, of course, there's the QB problem.

None of those problems are getting fixed, so at the end of the day, it just doesn't ****ing matter.

He almost won the Superbowl as OC with the Cardinals. He hasn't been HC anywhere else.

He did? He was behind a HoF QB, the best WR tandem in the NFL, and an offensive HC.

Could not be any worse? Give me a ****ing break.
Unstable and difficult to work with? That's probably why Breaston followed him here and Flowers, Charles, and DJ signed long-term extension at the price of peanuts to stay here.
On the OC front, again, I still do not believe for a second that Haley had any real choice in those hires. I think Hunt/Pioli were going to hire them regardless of whether Haley wanted them.

I would like to see a squad where the front office actually spends on players, instead of asking the head coach to make gems out of 5th round picks. I'd like to see the front office make a firm commitment to get the right QB instead of arrogantly backing the starter without competition. I'd like to see the front office not try to Patriotize every ****ing thing about this team.

I think Haley's a perfectly sane coach. Most of what is wrong with KC has Pioli's paw print all over it.

You can't fix Hunt so if I had to rate the problem of KC in order of who needs to "really" get fired, I would choose Pioli. Seeing that to be impossible, I will choose Haley because he ****ing deserves to get canned anyway.

It does not seem to me that Haley is inept. I think he's a smart coach who can game plan. It's just that he has those ****ing weird mind boggling things that he does that no one and I mean no one on earth knows why he does them.

Jones, Palko, ****ed up fourth down calls, Thomas Jones, not starting Stanzi, Thomas Jones getting carries again, Sabby Piece of shit and Finally, Dexter ****luster running through the middle.

Yes, these are all accurate.

But in the end, I believe a head coach deserves to show what he can do with the right players to work with. And Haley has NOT been given a team that most head coaches could turn into a deep playoff winner. Not just Haley. Any head coach.
