In 1978 four men set out to create the largest big-box home improvement store in America. What they did in Marietta, Georgia was spell the end for The Arkansas Razorbacks within the national sports media. You see, Arthur Blank was one of those four men, and Arthur Blank doesn’t really like Bobby Petrino. Blank hired away a liar from Louisville, let his players run Petrino out of town, then cried wolf when Petrino left him faster than he fled Kentucky. So what does that matter to ESPN? That home improvement store was Home Depot, and Home Depot is the primary sponsor of their college football programming. College football programming that routinely avoids Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Petrino, a man known for being deceptive even prior to leaving Atlanta, left The Falcons after 13 weeks of DeAngelo Hall, Keith Brooking, Alge Crumpler, and even Warrick Dunn – all-pro players – constantly criticizing him, giving up on him, and bashing him within the media. Arthur Blank did nothing to stand behind the coach he stole from The University of Louisville. Petrino, who agreed to the Atlanta position as the coach of the star-crossed Michael Vick, had enough. No player support. No front office support. No Michael Vick. So, no press conference.
With three games remaining in a 3-10 season, Petrino was announced as the next head coach of The University of Arkansas. ESPN was handcuffed. While Petrino left abruptly and classlessly via a note on player lockers, Blank knew who he hired. Ironically, ESPN responded by bashing Petrino and The Razorbacks. No mention was made of Arthur Blank’s deception that led to Petrino leaving Louisville, no mention was made of Petrino signing up to coach the departed and jailed Michael Vick, no mention was made of Atlanta pushing Petrino out. Bobby Petrino left on his terms, and no one does that to Arthur Blank. Miles down the road, Nick Saban was lying to Miami Dolphin ownership before fleeing to Tuscaloosa, but The Miami Dolphins don’t sponsor ESPN’s college football broadcasts.
And then the moment Blank and DeAngelo Hall hoped for finally happened. After four years of building and arming a top-five football program, Petrino crashed. Literally. And with a 25-year old, recently hired female employee on the back of his Hog. The nationally-hated Bobby Petrino made a darling of Athletic Director Jeff Long. In an opportunity to oust Petrino and be the first major program to choose morals over money, Long took the podium and won over Razorback Nation – a nation supportive and obsessed with coach Petrino, known affectionately as “BMFP.” Cries to keep Petrino became support for an Athletic Director crying for the student-athletes. But ESPN doesn’t see it that way. Jeff Long knew what he was getting when hiring Bobby Petrino, but what about Arthur Blank?
Arthur Blank is a deity to ESPN and Jeff Long is a thief. One man tried desperately to find reason to trust a cheating liar, the other stood idly by as washed-up players ripped an offensive genius baited by talent switched to scrubs. Bobby Petrino lied and cheated. Jeff Long courted an employed coach. Arthur Blank courted an employed coach. Arthur Blank is responsible for the money behind ESPN’s College Game Day presented by Home Depot.

She jumps off, uses Bobby to take the impact and does an old volleyball move rolling to her feet unscratched. Meanwhile Bobby looks like the Pillsbury dough boy splattered with pink frosting. So Ms. Dorrell is sitting pretty, if it’s kept quiet and she keeps her job, she has more dirt on the boss; if she loses it, she has a mighty big harassment claim against the U and Athletic Dept, and she’s a celebrity. TV reality shows come calling. She can pose for Playboy and various online porn channels for more dough. Using some of the dough for body sculpting and some cool tattoos, and she may become in big demand as a stripper around Fayetteville. Hope she splits the proceeds with her now ex-fiance. Well, at least the double wide is easy to split down the middle. Bet her daddy is down right proud of his girl now.

U of A got what they deserved: Long and "Padrino," who got each other their jobs. Long is smart enough to throw Petrino under the bus first; however, Long approved Dorrell's hire and "such."

Time for U of A to clean house, again.

I'm comig to the realization that understanding of this issue falls along class and socioeconomic lines. People who work in a position with subordinates get it. People whose jobs don't require them to have any understanding of workplace ethics don't.
