The silver carp is also called the flying carp for its tendency to leap from the water when startled.[11] They can grow to over 40 lb (18 kg), and can leap 10 ft (3 m) in the air. Many boaters traveling in uncovered high-speed watercraft have been injured by running into the fish while at speed. In 2003, a woman jet-skiing broke her nose and a vertebra colliding with a silver carp and nearly drowned.[12] In another example, a leaping silver carp broke the jaw of a teenager being pulled on an inner tube.[13] Water skiing in areas where silver carp are present is extremely dangerous.

Looks like we've found a new stunt for JACKASS.

These ****ers can already be found in the Missouri river right here in KC. I occasionally boat the MO down by the Rivermarket area, and these are all over right now. Of course the MO is dirty and nasty in this location, so the carp all have a layer of brown slime on them too.

Damn. I've never seen anything like that before. What the hell can they do to get rid of them without getting rid of the game fish as well? Really sucks.

Take them to any folks you know who've come here from China or Thailand, they're often fond of these - we might be able to sell the meat to China, in fact. We tend to turn our nose up at ALL carp, but these 'silverfin' carp are better eating that you might expect if you do treat 'em right, per some Louisiana chefs who're preparing 'em for their restaurants. This fellow has some ideas:
