Why did indy get easy schedule?

Why do the chiefs get punked after a sh*tty season and the colts make it to the afc championship and they getting an easy schedule. The toughest teams they play at home, except for the patriots.

The Patriots also got jacked. I thought it was based off your record last year. Or is it a conspiracy to allow the colts get home field advantage, so tagliabue can get poster boy peyton in the superbowl.
