First Drive - Our D against NY's O - TIVO review
I just finished watching the first drive on TIVO.
Wow, it was bad 1) It's getting old but the first play was an end around to Hicks side and he got sucked inside and then was EASILY sealed by the blocker. As it's been said he doesn't have the speed or the strength to play anymore. 2) When we defend against the run (no pass rush) BOTH of our ends can be run blocked by Tight Ends. Jared is ok or average against the run but Hicks gets dominated by a TE. 3) For some reason our DB's were playing super soft. Maybe this is to disguise the plan to jam the receivers at the LOS plan we'll use at the beginning of the season otherwise it makes NO sense. Ty Law gave up an easy third down because he was playing so soft. 4) Jared got completely dominated and put on his back inside the five yard line on a running play. I think it was the tackle who did it but he's just too soft at the point in goaline sets. 5) Kawika dropped WAY to deep into the endzone on the touchdown and it left the middle wide open. What's he doing one yard off the end line in the endzone? He just ran himself out of the play. Kawika isn't quite there in reading the pass in his drops. I think he'll get better but both he and Johnson just drop into their zone without keying off the QB then they react. 6) Where's Bell? he's just................ out there ??? Fox doesn't meet the ballcarrier with force. He has bad tackling and is lunging at the ballcarrier instead of exploding into him. 7) The DT's weren't getting any penetration and sometimes get pushed back which screws all the angles up for the LB's to fill at the LOS. Lots of work to do. Hicks should be on the bench or IMO cut. On the positive side I do believe KC is hiding a lot of the scheme and they will get better when they start pressing with the DB's at the LOS. Last edited by ChiefaRoo; 08-18-2006 at 03:26 PM.. |
