My First-Ever Mock

I know this is lining up those who hate my way of thinking, but I'll do it for fun. This would be my own Chiefs mock draft for 2010. Rip it apart!

First Round:
#5. Eric Berry, S, Tennessee. The Chiefs need a center-fielder with playmaking abilities. The defense was horrible against deep throws, and he could really help guys like Flowers and Carr, who would instantly improve with him back there.

Second Round

#36. Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame. The whole Charlie Weis/comfort zone thingy kicks in here, filling a need with a guy who has outstanding hands for those 1 or 2 times Matt Cassel gets the ball within 5 yards of the guy.

#50. Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan
I've seen several mocks that have him falling to this place because of his size (or lack thereof.) But he has a good burst to the QB and can use his smallish build to get under a blocker and to the QB. He's been a consistent performer on a bad defense.

Third Round
#68. Mike Johnson, G, Alabama
This AP 1st team All-American is a consistent performer and was a leader on an OL that made Greg McElroy the QB of a National Champion. That sounds good to Matt Cassel. This 6'6", 305 pound guard would help replace Brian Waters, even if he doesn't think he needs it.

Fourth Round
#100. Pat Angerer, ILB, Iowa
Yes, I had to pick at least ONE Hawkeye in my Chiefs draft. Angerer is a born leader, aggressive playmaker, and smart, disciplined, player. He should be #53 because he's SOOOOOOO right. He would be a special teams beast as well. Last season, he finished in the top 5 nationally with 135 tackles.

Fifth Round
#133. Torrell Troup, DT, Central Florida
Troup has been the leader of a pretty solid UCF defense, and is known for a great work ethic. If we do draft him for NT, however, he'd need go on the Ryan Sims offseason workout program to get up to size. I still think we'll need a NT in free agency (Casey Hampton?) But I think this kid has a pretty bright future.

#139. John Estes, C, Hawaii
A very athletic center who was also a strong leader serving as captain for his team as well as a 1st team all WAC performer. Although I do agree that it might be hard for a former ND head coach to push out a player named Rudy. This guy might be good enough to make it happen.

#145. Alterraun Verner, CB, UCLA
Verner is a good value here, with tons of ability and production. Bringing some competition in to push Carr wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Plus, it would make Carl Peterson chuckle to pick a UCLA guy just to remind him of the good old days. Hey, he's NOT a kicker.

Sixth Round
#164. Stafon Johnson, RB, USC
He would be the thunder to our lightning. The rock to our roll. The guy who can give JC a break while he heals our offense and cures cancer. He falls here because of his near-fatal injuy in the weight room.

There ya go...have at it!
