Who is worse? Bob Sutton or Greg Robinson

Your initial choice would probably be Greg Robinson, no question about it, but think a little deeper. Sutton has 5 defensive pro bowl calibur players to work with. In comparison the 2000 champion Baltimore Ravens had 3.

could it be that Sutton TRIED to adjust but his ninja's just got out played?

Sorry i'm not ready to give up on Sutton, we weren't healthy - even Saturday, really. Tamba's motor was only running at about 70% on Saturday.

The sun will rise and this particular Chief's team WILL absolutely be back, please believe it.

What was the ESPN stat someone posted? 47 of the 49 defensive plays in the second half we rushed 4 or less.

I understand your take, and normally I'd agree, but an UGLY pattern developed with Sutton's pass defense from week 10 on and there was virtually NO improvement in any game once it started going bad culminating in NOT BEING ABLE TO HOLD a 28 3rd quarter lead in the playoffs. It was an EPIC FAILURE only bested 1 time in league history. If he knew what he was doing he would have been able to do "something." Sorry, no passes are given for a historic failure. He is a problem that if not addressed will cost the Chiefs again. They need to LEARN from '03 and do TWO THINGS: 1. Replace Sutton with someone better now and move on. 2. UPGRADE the personnel. They should not do only 1 and not the other because whichever one they don't do will cost them when it matters most.

I'm all for replacing Sutton, but you still need to upgrade personnel.

Replacing Robinson with Gunther in 04 did nothing.

Sutton has significantly more talent on defense to work with than Greg Robinson had.

5 Pro Bowl players.

Greg Robinson didn't just fail at the pro level. He failed spectacularly with Texas. Texas. From a talent perspective, that's the equivalent of turning the '85 Bears into the '04 Chiefs.

I was at the '03 playoff game. On the first drive of the game we got the Colts to 3rd and 11. Robinson's call on that play was to drop Ryan Sims into coverage as part of a zone blitz. Ryan. Sims.

This defense relies on pressure; without Hali and Houston as bookends, it gets exposed.
Our DE's are not good enough pass rushers. Hali was not healthy in the playoff game, and neither was Houston. They ran out of gas in the second half.

Also, Luck was getting rid of the ball in 2. something seconds. Not much you can do pass rush-wise at that point. So the question becomes-"How the hell is someone open in 2.something seconds?!"

Well...running almost strictly man has some weaknesses; it's vulnerable to 'pick' plays. It's vulnerable to crossing routes. You can end up with mismatches like LB's on Rb's, etc. In our case, a rookie CB and a CB that wasn't playing well the 2nd half of the season with the best CB being injured and a world class terrible FS all combined to making Luck's job just a little bit easier.

I have no problems with playing man, a lot of bump and run. I have no problems not blitzing like mad 2nd half, because he was getting the ball out so fast it wouldn't have mattered-we weren't going to get there in less than 2 seconds. The problem is, we have a couple of glaring weak spots and some depth issues that make it difficult to keep it up for 60 minutes.

According to FoxSports....Luck had over 4 seconds on a crucial 3rd and 11 which he would complete for a first down. At least blitz on 3rd down

Its closer than the poll indicates IMO, as others have mentioned, Sutton had five Pro Bowlers to work with... this guy doesn't do halftime adjustments worth a damn. When they started getting hot in the third, he should've been blitzing a lot more by atleast the fourth quarter.

The only reason I went Robinson is that he sucked for quite a bit longer.
