Yeah we lost again because we didnt try hard enough. Damn, always happens when we lose. I sure hope we try hard in the NCAA tournament. But, if we dont, surely its because we dont even care if we win or not. Clearly

I like how every NCAA loss you blame on the team not trying hard enough, its pretty funny. Effort matters, just not to the degree you, fans, and the media portray it to be. Almost every player at this level is playing with a high level of intensity. Just because they arent flopping around and animated like Marcus Smart doesnt mean they dont have the will to win

It does, because it's not just about physicality.

Effort portrays more that that. Mental, physical, etc. KU doesn't mentally lock in on defense at times, lacking focus, which leads to shitty effort.

Except that isn't close to true. There are plenty of games this team has lost where they've given a good effort. The KSU one in overtime for example or the San Diego game at home. They tried hard and just got beat in those games.

But there are also games like today where the team didn't try at all for 30 minutes defensively. They turned up the effort level in the last 10 primarily due to Wiggins, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early laziness.

Effort matters, just not to the degree you, fans, and the media portray it to be.

It matters a ton. WVU was focused and wanted this game in a way that KU just didn't. They showed it on the court. That ultimately proved to be the biggest difference today.
