I wish I could see it again for the first time.
Whatever your list of the best TV shows of all time, there a good chance watching Deadwood will occasion an alteration of that list. And the added richness is that it's based in reality. Reality that is actually even more bonkers than Milch represented it in his Shakespeare-ian way. Even though we are in 'The Golden Age of TV' we still haven't seen anything quite like Deadwood, largely because people with Milch's grasp of history and gift for prose don't grow on trees. This is a defining moment [IMO] in the show, used to be my signature. If it intrigues you in the least, check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2Q7YRDL90E

It was only suppose to go four. It was based on actual events. The city was actually burned down.
That was supposed to Happen the next season

Was supposed to be 4 but yeah.
Four things; 1. Ending of Sopranos had HBOs butt clenched about profits. 2. Deadwood was mad expensive 3. John from Cincinatti was tanking with Milch at the helm 4. HBO started scrambling for a plate of new inexpensive series. Milch still had plenty of stories to tell, but HBO panicked. Whether they fell out of love with expensive shows or Milch's quirks is unknown.

Season 2 - Still very good, but getting shaky. Season 3 - Kind of an effort to get through it. |

Not the specifics, but I know I'm a fan and pimp them here when solicited.
