Again, not saying cut him. I don't want to cut him, Tamba, or DJ. But they will likely restructure, because the cost to keep him so vastly outweighs the cost to cut him.

It's the same thing for Derrick Johnson. If you want to keep the player, you restructure or extend.

Basically, again - these are the contracts that allow the chiefs a lot of wiggle room on the cap.

Of that list, I would cut everyone except Bowe and Smith.

The team cant afford to cut Bowe. They need to find a way to lower his cap number, or they need to have an ironclad hand shake agreement with a FA #1 caliber receiver before cutting him. If they cut Bowe now, the #1 receiver becomes ****ing Albert Wilson.

We can find options in the passing game to replace bowe, who wasn't giving us much at all.

I would NOT cut Tamba when he is willing to restructure. At this point I have no problem with last year's 1st round pick as the 3rd pass rusher, we just need to bring him in for more packages.

I'm also not ready to cut DJ. Even if you take a pessimistic approach on his recovery, he can buy a couple years with far better production than what the replacement level scrubs gave LY. We need to be investing in ILB come April's draft.

What's not mentioned there is Berry still counts big on the cap right now, which can be modified and still take care of him while he's in treatment.

I dont even really care about his recovery, tbh. He's got 1 year left under contract, he's currently injured, and not a part of the future of this team. He's the type of roster spot you give to a younger guy.

Added Bowe and Fasano - that's $39M in savings.

We don't have to cut Sean Smith, it's just that his contract is structured so that it's an attractive way to save money without significant penalty.

Those are just the biggest contracts that stick out. Not saying we make all the moves, but you can clear a shitload of room still.

cutting after june 15th doesn't eliminate money

it just saves it against the cap THIS year. It means the cut cost more next year.

The Chiefs only have $86 million towards the cap in 2016, and that includes Dwayne Bowe's contract, so it's best they spread it out over two years to help with this year's cap.

They should be in really good cap shape next year.

Fair enough.

People just seem to be acting like it was monopoly money.

"just shift it all to next year..."

Don't forget adding Houston,Hudson and any FA we sign to next year's number

Poe next year as well
