Says Justin Houston wants a JJ Watt type contract from the Chiefs. Watt signed a six year 100 million deal with Houston.

Those numbers actually seem fairly reasonable, assuming Houston keeps at his trade. Probably ends up being a little bit less guaranteed, but I could certainly live with that salary cap hit year-by-year.

Not always true. Look at the Saints. Brees signed that deal in 2012 and they got rid of half the team because of his contract this year.

Sutton's defense is built on the pass rush. Houston has been underpaid so far in his career and KC has benefitted from it. Houston has earned a big deal, and he might be THE most important cog in the defense for the next few seasons. You need to pay him and structure it wisely so he only accounts for less than 10% of the cap.

EXACTLY. That would be in the $14.3 million a year neighborhood and make him the highest paid LB in the NFL. However, I am willing to go up to $15 because he's special and from UGA.

At the time we were stuck with a QB SHITTIER than what RG3 has been in the NFL, and the people in charge showed that they gave precisely ZERO ****s about that situation. They never brought in anybody real to challenge him. In fact, the only time we ever saw a legitimate QB competition was to try to upgrade the QB2 spot. And that was probably the most laughable competition I've ever ****ing seen. Palko/Stanzi followed by Quinn/Stanzi.

It's not as simple as saying, "I'd rather not spend an assload of draft picks to acquire this guy. Let's just stick with Alex Smith." We had AIDS leprosy of the butthole, and we were standing around doing nothing. OF COURSE it made sense at the time to try to get out of that awful hell hole we were stuck in.

I'll bet you if the Chiefs sign him to that 6 year $97.5 million deal, you'll be "willing to go up" to that amount when Houston goes back to cracking skulls in the regular season.

His contract became fully guaranteed in February. They didn't have to get rid of the whole team.

I will always support him but never feel that way. I never thought we'd sign Bowe to that deal but we did. I couldn't believe it but I rolled with it.

Seriously though... Does he deserve to be paid like a d-linemen? 3-4 OLBers who can rush the passer aren't nearly as rare. And JJ Watt? He's a 3-4 DE who plays like Reggie White! That is unheard of people! There has never been a player like JJ Watt. I don't think people see that.

Houston is that special. We don't have to sign him long term right now. What would we sign him to that deal when in all likelihood he won't duplicate last year's production? Mr. Houston would be smart to take that $75 million six year deal while he can.

It won't piss me off. I just know it won't happen. If it does, I will leave on my own accord like I promised.

I believe he'll get the tag and we will give him six years and $75 million next March. That will be the same offer he's getting now and the best offer he'll get then. He's not going to have the production he had last season and will probably get hurt and miss a game or two. That would be my guess....

All I know is he isn't getting 6 years $100 million
