I wasn't trying to validate the play. Not at all it was wrong. I'm just pointing out league precedent. DT did it twice and kept playing.

Different time and social climate. Not excusing what DT did or lessening it but looking at this from the NFL social perspective.

There are a lot of viewers that only watch one game a year, the Super Bowl. If you want to show the "court of public opinion" that you are serious about the violence, this would have sent the strongest message that you can send.

Actually, I suppose they did, didn't they? Just not the one that the PR guys would have liked.
