But most of the average everyday posters don't want or care about the draft until the weeks leading up to it, so they like to see mocks, etc in the lounge.

It's just the way it's always been. I like it because it keeps the draft area pretty secluded and without alot of thr bullshit you see in here, the. We get to talk about the draft later here.
