Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

Alex finally put some air under the ball on a deep throw and allowed a receiver to run under it. He usually throws them flat and it has to be almost a perfect throw to be completed because the receiver can't run underneath it. Think he does it to decrease the chance of an int. But if he starts throwing them like that he'll complete them at a much higher rate. So many deep passes just out of the reach of the receiver.

he needs to use the force, not work against it. trust his receivers he must

Say what you want about Alex Smith.. He may not be the best fantasy football QB or put up lots of crazy stats. But his style of play wins games and he doesn't make stupid mistakes.

Solid QB and a very underrated player IMO. I've always liked him and I believe this team can win a SB with him.

He's looked great the past two games. Granted, against crap defenses, but lets hope it continues.

His style of play wins regular season games against bad and mediocre teams.

It doesn't win division titles (for the Chiefs) or win against complete teams.

You've got to pair his style of play with an elite defense and good running game to do that. And that's really hard to do.

That's what most of the Smith doubters have been saying from the beginning.

They'll go on a nice streak now vs the soft part of the schedule and Smith apologists will make a lot of noise and crow, but it is fools gold.

What a homer.

A conservative offense paired with a good defense that wins the turnover differential is a great recipe for regular season success. As we have seen since the 1990s, it's harder to make that hold up in the postseason, when you're not receiving great play from the QB spot or truly elite D.

To date, Alex Smith has won zero division titles as a Chief. They may win it this year, but there's a lot of season left.

Where one of the best defenses ever carried a conservative offense to a win?

Yeah, I saw. Give Smith that kind of D and he could be the QB of a division/Super Bowl/etc. winner.

KC's D has shown no signs of being that good so far this year. Even the return of Justin Houston would leave it with a long way to go to be that good.

You better watch it. Mods are very sensitive around here and like to ban anyone that points out team flaws.

I will tell you guys this much. That touchdown throw to Hill yesterday was the EXACT type of thing I have been praying Alex Smith would do more. He finally gave his receiver a chance to make a play. Hill wasnt open when he threw it. Hill wasnt even really open when he caught it. But he made the play anyway.

Alex needs to do this more often. Have some trust and let your guys go try to make a play! I hope to see more of this (Cant say I expect to see it more, but hope to see more).

Sandy, I may have to get a copy of that Avatar. It would be great for Clay. I won that bet and in 2 months, when he gets his sig and avatar privileges back from his previous lost bet, I am going to need something good.
