It's time to move on from Alex Smith.

He wasn't even the main reason we lost. We're just never gonna win a Super Bowl with him. It's time.

The two best QBs in the AFC are left to play for the right to play in the Super Bowl. Not shocking.

Every team that has won their playoff matchup has had the better QB. Unless you have an elite defense the better QB is more often than not gonna win the matchup. It's not rocket science.

Time to draft one high. Finally.

thats the funny part. Smiths value as a starter is so low Im not sure what team would want him.

Would Cleveland, the Jets or the Bills even bother?

Browns - He probably cant run Hue Jacksons system, so he would be more of the same like they already have in McCown. Pryors stock would plummet with Smith at QB.

Bills - No way a new coach ties himself to a 32 year old game manager, youd be insane to do that.

Jets - Maybe, because hes the anti Fitz, and doesnt turn the ball over. He would get destroyed by the Pats and Dolphins 4x a year though so Jets fans will turn on him so fast

Its easy to see how Alex Smith is probably a spot starter/bsckup at best on 75 percent of rosters right now

Reid was asked Smith would be the QB next year and he didn't say yes. He said they haven't looked at it yet. Maybe there is hope he will be gone. He deserves to be gone.

Did he say that in the post game interview?

If so, that pretty much says they're heavily considering a new QB.

Some slightly dumber team might be enamored with Alex Smith. The Chiefs fell for it....

Jets? Rams make some sense, even though they seem to think Jared Goff will be a viable NFL QB.

Maybe Washington if they lose Cousins to FA.

I think there will be a lot of QB movement this offseason. Maybe a team will be interested in Smith, who knows. Even if there is no interest, the cap hit for cutting him isnt bad.

He didn't say yes. He basicly said the staff and players have it been discussed. That is not a ringing endorsement.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not but I guess Cowherd talked about how KC should try and get in on the Garoppolo trade.

Besides the fact that KC would be trading for another backup.....now listen to what he thinks KC should give up for him..

1st round pick
Kelce
Poe
Berry

2 of which are free agents....da fuk. lol. Literally insane.

1st- you bumped a thread when we already have 4 just like it on the front page already.

2nd - if you listen to Colin "I-refuse-to-cover-KC-because-it's-flyover-country" Cowherd then you are a ****ing idiot and should step out into oncoming traffic.

You're right, i didn't realize it was such an old thread. I searched Cowherd and saw he was mentioned in here but not specifically this.

Btw, I don't listen to him. I heard 810 talk about it in the morning.

But please carry on with your rage.

Petro made a great point. Reid dumped McNabb when he was 33 and his stats were better than Smiths.

Jets would probably take him. Bears. Texans would be much better with him but they gave Osweiller too much money. Jags would be better off with less QB turnovers but probably want to give Bortles one more season. Cardinals were interested in him before he came here, so unless they want to move on from Palmer it's not happening there. He's not going back to the Niners. Other than that, no.

Thing was he had Michael Vick in the wings who Reid felt was ready to take over. Plus McNabb had been injured much of the previous few years. Unless he thinks Foles is his guy and some team is ready to give up a 2 and a 3 for Smith like he got for McNabb, I don't see him doing the same thing. But you never know...

In the press conference following the Eagles' loss to Dallas, and even up to April 1, Andy Reid stated that McNabb would remain the starting quarterback in Philadelphia for the 2010 season.[37] However, on April 4, the Eagles traded McNabb to the Washington Redskins in return for a second-round (37th overall) pick in the 2010 NFL Draft (with which the Eagles selected Nate Allen) and a conditional third- or fourth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.[38]

I think the solid if unspectacular play of Alex Smith would be welcome on several teams.

Think of all the teams that are a disaster at QB and just want to stop losing because of that position.

Denver
Houston
Cleveland (would take any decent QB at this point)
49ers (have need but would be too embarrassed to take Smith back)
Bears (probably not, although they seem to settle in under Barkley for awhile)
Jets (i doubt the fans would accept such a mundane move. NY always needs flare)
Buffalo (If Ryan was still there I would say yes. Not anymore)

I have no idea what the value of Smith would be, though.
